from reading this thread, and from watching a show called extras, i have come to the conclusion that in order to have a successful british tv show, there must be lots of tag lines / catch phrases that get repeated every episode.

It's probably true of mainstream fluff like Tate and Little Britain, and even to an extent The League of Gentleman.
