Here's what could have happened..

We were led to believe by certain sections of the media that the new album was coming out in June...now we are told July. It's well known that MCA wanted Hello Nasty to be instrumental, and they decided at very short notice to put lyrics to it ( something like a week before it's release ). Now, I reckon this new album was intended to be 100% instrumental, but maybe after capitol had heard it, and the Boys seeing how much it might piss off fans, they have delayed it to add lyrics. I remember Oasis a couple of years ago telling the media they were about to drop there new album, they played a few tracks off of it at a couple of gigs and they got a bad responce, so they put they album release date back so they could rewrite it again. I know Beastie Boys do what they want when they want, but let us not forget, they aren't under there own Grand Royal label now, capitol will no doubt have a say in it.

They've been toying with the idea of an album without any rap since CYH, but it's never happened. I doubt they just suddenly added hip-hop to HN though since a good chunk of the album is rapped and the beats are top notch.

I don't get the surprise of it being instrumental, i remember says to freinds, they wont be around forever will they? and them saying they'll become a jazz band and keep going. This is exactly what i thought would happen. To The 5 Boroughs was the the surprise.

Check in previous threads about lyrics being put on HN at a later date. Yes intergalatic came out a bit before HN, but chances are far greater that HN was already done and dusted. I'm refering to the fact that HN was orginally going to be instrumental..I'm only going on what I've read and heard.

who knows...but puts that "Helly Nasty Intrumentals" LP/CD release that came out in Australia (or somewhere other than USA) in different light now.

they've never put out a release like that with any of their other lps...
