I got bitten by a snake today. Well, not me personally, but my pants did.......while I was wearing them.

I was bringing my wife some breakfast in bed this morning, walked through the bedroom door and this fucking thing sprang and grabbed my pants. I dropped the cup of coffee, ripped it off, chucked it against the wall and had a heart attack because it looked like a tiger snake (highly venomous). After further investigation because I had to make sure it went back outside, it turned out to be a baby brown tree python.

Scary as hell having something like that hanging off you, used up all my adrenaline in about 10 seconds. Fucking crazy nature.

I got done by one of those years ago while I was hitchhiking home from Byron once. Made me sick for a couple of days but was fine after that.

Don't know about crabs though, Zorra, although I copped a fishhook in the chin retrieving a salmon that was on the end of my dads line when I was twelve.

While it is unusual, you kind of have to expect it. I live in a fairly remote place in the bush and we have a lot of nature here. Walking around barefoot during summer is probably not a good idea even though its hot because of the sheer variety of things that can from snakes to ticks and spiders etc.

Fact is, I'm not that worried about having that particular species of snake around because you can be sure that there is more than one of them and that they are keeping the rat and mouse (native ones, we don't have any imported versions at my house) population under control. Its the bitey ones that are a worry, because they are more venomous than most things other countries have.
