So what does everyone think of the cover art for The Mix-Up?

yeah cheers dude.

Well, if it's a fake then someone has spent a lot of time and effort with it.

I would have liked to have seen an illustrated version of the boys and not some lazy 'threshold' effort.

Nice type though.

It looks pretty creative. Reminds me of a Dr. Seus contraption.

Now we should make a poll who believes it is true.

I'm a bit lost to be honest. I choose not to trust anyone at this point.

i think its fake, mainly cuz of the pictures of the b-boys, for some reason. I dont know why

but it looks good.

I wouldn't get dissapointed if it was the real thing, but yauch's hand looks to weird.

Real or not its pretty cool looking.... It kinda reminds me of a Beatle album artwork.... Maybee this will be their "Revolver"......

exactly. it would've been cool and believable if there wasnt that crappy pic badly photoshopped and pasted there.

Fake.

No "Jazz Odysey"

this has nothing to do with the cover.
this has already been covered, at length...

Mke D's "Jazz Odyssey" shoutout was a reference to Spinal Tap

oh and if the album cover is real, then I like it (y)

It's very good that they are doing an instrumental LP.

Looking at that track list, it's nice of them to do the first song about me:eek: :p :D :)

In a way I doubt that's the real thing. I don't think they'd be using a "used" promo pic for an album cover. BUT that is a promo company so it could be true...
I thought of Beatles' Yellow Submarine at first glance, also Professor Balthazar brings to mind! :D

DIGI
04-30-2007, 11:58 AM
Very Beck-ish. I dig it. "This is fake!!/That is fake!!" You know what isn't fake?? The fact that all of you D-bags that keep saying this shit are fags. Just shut the fuck up and wait to find out when it's released instead of annoying the hell out of everybody.

Please and thank you.

I actually like that. It looks like a CD single, though, but I like it.

yeah, and it has the words "off the grid" on it. so it could be a single for that.

like i said before, i don't know if they would use there promo pic in the cover

Lots of instrument in there too, but no mics. But I guess there wouldnt be if its an instrumental album.

I think it looks really cool. Like it a lot. Almost hope it is the cover, but we'll have to wait and see. I can't see how anyone is gonna find out until someone or something with known authority announces shit (i.e. the website or mod) - But hey, I think it looks cool and deserves to be looked at regardless.

dave790
04-30-2007, 03:29 PM
Yeah I assumed so, wonder why. It's interesting M posted it though, because the post seems to refer to it as the actual cover - unless she jumped the gun from what she saw here and has since changed her mind hence taken it down - which I doubt. Who's Zoe Rogers by the way?

YoungRemy
04-30-2007, 03:39 PM
just go the blog linked in the first post of this thread... it was posted here last night in the "new album has lyrics" thread by popflier, who works with Capitol and knows someone here on the board...

"Shout to Ian and Zoe"- Iancrogers posted the interview with Mike d last week, Zoe is his daughter who has podcasts every once in a while and is mentioned in the aforementioned interview... look up ian on beastiemania

but we already know that she likes the album... this was already mentioned... what I would like to hear is what respected members of this community have to say about this album

I know, we should all sing to it/rap to it/speak words to it and send it in to some kind of contest. The prize: a copy of the follow-up disk with all the winners performing on it. It'll be like Beastie Idol. Uhhh, like that would rule or something. Uhh ... huh, hum. Yeah. Or we could just make it have vocals of our own. How about them Duke boys make a follow-up out snippets and words of the voices sent in laid down over their groovy instrumentals. Now it's like table tennis. Mod. Get away from me you nasty house fly.

I should try that because this should be a lyrical album.

The "instrumental" album is going to release, you'll buy it, and listen to it. Then, you'll still swear there are lyrics on it.

It would be nice if it was a double disc set with instrumental on one and lyrics on the other.

You are most definitely a strict hip hip purist cj hood. You probably have never bought a Clash, Blondie or the Ramones album either -- may be I am wrong.

Seriously though how can an artist make good hip hop if they do not listen to other genres of music (rhetorical question). Digging the crates is critical for hip hop I always thought (e.g. listening to Kraftwerk was presumably a useful thing back in the day, no?).

Regardless, to each his own. I doubt I will ever convince you otherwise.

although i do like Blondie.....i dont' own any records by those bands you mentioned.....but i do listen to all types of music......for example, i like Weezer a lot.....own all of their records.....but if they put out a hiphop album (ie something they're not known for)........i wouldn't buy it.......

Weezer doin' hip hop does sound nasty.

I hope you like the new Beastie's effort. I think it will be a creative year for the band considering the quality of the new Bad Brains track produced by Yauch called Universal Peace.

I didn't know what that was until you pointed it out. (y) my question is: where in some of the Beasties songs do you hear it being used? or is that too difficult? sorry I failed music class, never mind biology..

i think a considerable amount of the delays used on Hello Nasty were made with the Echoplex. Don't know when they first started using it though. i'd put down money that all of the delays on tt5b were digital delays, considering the majority of that album was done "in the box", including the mixing.

judging by the plex on the cover of TMU, i can only assume it gets its share of use on the album.

"sound sounds sweeter throught the Echoplex, it'll spin you around and throw you in a hex" -Negotiation Limerick File

Considering there's mad delay on that line, i'd say it's safe to say that song is a good example of what an echoplex delay sounds like.

good day to you, kind sir.:)
