One of the tracks have a fuzz box on the bass, but there are no tracks that sound like anything off of Check Your Head or Ill Communication that have that more edgey punk distortion. I'd say that 80% of the songs are above 120 - 130 BPM. There are really only a couple of songs that are a bit more chill and those still are not too terribly slow.

Some of the songs like 14 St Break and the Suco de Tangerina sound like they could have been in an a Gidget movie. They're kinda quirky and have that good feeling rockin out from the 60's.

I think the "mix" comes with all of the different instruments and layering of sounds/effects. It's not just drums, bass, and guitar. There's an organ or keyboard on almost every track along with shakers and even like a sitar on one track and a whistle on another. It's really "mixed up" in that respect so I think that's where the title may come from.

Sitar? Sounds interesting.

All the speculating threads on the MB are too much too soon for me. I'm gonna refrain from comment until I actually have the thing in my hands and the tunes in my ears.

I think that sounds wicked....a 60's sound on some tracks...and not all super-slow and chill...I don't know if I can think of another artist's no-lyrics album that can be described that way. It sounds like once again guaranteed fresh(y)

and I thought kingcrimson's "cousin" works for Capitol...

according to this review, crimson includes the tracklist that popflier provided...but then crimson claimed his cousin works for Capitol and gave a completely different tracklist...

You see I think that's a cool reaction. And at least you're taking your time too... I imagine many are going to be rather dismissive. I like very original - they're fucking innovators son and one hopes that continues!

oh yeah that was like two weeks ago... and then there was another fake album cover someone posted

so far we have seen three , make that four, no FIVE tracklists if you include the Brazilian magazine...

1. Brazilian mag
2. deleted tracklist
3. fake album cover (with Henry Rollins and Biz Markie as guests)
4. popflier
5. kingcrmson's cousins gardeners manicurist who shaves Mike D's Dog

its all bullshit until we hear from a legit source, I dont care who knows who or verifies what....

paulb, can you at least verify what tracks are legit and what arent?

dave790
04-30-2007, 03:31 PM
Remy, I mean in this thread...like there was a tracklisting in the first post, and now it's not there. I may be confused with another recent post though! Sorry if that's the case.

i just remeber reading a new post tonight with a tracklisting different from the one on the myspace page, and I thought it was in this thread.

Does that make any sense?!

edit: Not to worry, it's in the 'Re: new album has lyrics' thread sorry

http://mic-to-mic.blogspot.com/2007/04/message-to-beastie-boys-fan-community.html

We are overwhelmed with calls and emails from friends in the Beastie Boys fan community about our promised review of the Beastie Boys' new album The Mix Up. We will definitely have a review and more information about the new album to share soon.

Although we are not allowed to share any audio from the album, we can share personal video from the listening party. (It's not our fault if you can hear the music playing in the background!) The soonest we can post this video is Wednesday, so please check back then.

All we'll say for now about The Mix Up is the album is completely unique. All the clues you've heard and read are accurate. Northern soul, soundtrack, spy music...it's all there. It's NOT a repeat of The In Sound from Way Out. Do not expect to hear "Sabrosa"-style songs. It's the Beastie Boys like you've never heard them before.

this may be true, but you don't have to keep repeating yourself and bringing it up over and over and over and over again. we'll see when it comes out.

until then, let the realists discuss in peace.

In Sound From Way Out! was released as a promo to French radio stations before it was ever released to the public. It's a compilation of songs form CYH and IC with a couple of b-sides. I bought it because I had never heard Drinkin' Wine and it has versions of Lighten up and Namaste with no vocals... I'm not so sure if it was worth the price of admission, but I'm just that kind of fan.

If I'm not mistaken, Hurricane didn't scratch on Sabotage. He might have during concerts, but I believe Adrock did the scratching on the album. I don't remember where I heard or read this at.

I got to say that the reviews I have read thus far are really LAME! We deserve more! STEP IT UP!

I mean.... I could make an entire thread just talking about Mix Master Mike's opening at the 1998 Vienna show. Which would consist of pages and pages and pages and more pages of in depth analysis and opinions from the opening scratches

EDIT: M just started a new thread. You must be reading my mind!
