to the final stages of this working title films internship i applied for :)
for those that don't know, working title are the production company behind, yah know, hot fuzz, shaun of the dead, bridget jones, four weddings, united 93, notting hill, etc etc etc, based in london. they have this thing called the action! internship they have every year which is basically a fast track training course for wannabe film producers/developers. you spend a year with them in london working with their development and production teams. you know, researching ideas for films, writing script reports, working on the production of a movie etc etc. ALL THAT GOOD STUFF.
WELL. i applied (writing CVs thread, haha) with a well thought out CV and a cover letter that can MAKE CHILDREN CRY. serious, it rocked. this was the third time i had applied for it. i wanted it incredibly bad. they don't even bother replying to the people who are unsuccessful. ANYWAY, 1,500 people, i know now, applied for it. 50 were asked to the script report (first stage of selection process), then 25 were asked to come for the first interview (i went on thursday), now 12 have been asked back for the final interview. for three places. so i have a one in four chance. OMG OMG.
i am just so fucking overwhelmed by those figures it is incredible. working title is basically the UK's only sustainable production company. the only one. it's the closest to something akin to the hollywood studio system we have here. they are owned by universal/canal plus and hence benefit from this ennoorrrmmoussss distribution network they enjoy, so, you know, they actually get to *gasp* make money. 3.5 billion dollars worldwide gross or something ridonkulous. it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity. i am totally shocked.
i spent a lot of last year being awfully depressed (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showpost.php?p=1400279&postcount=1) career wise, post working on red road and getting my current job. awful. totally soul destroying. i haven't felt proud of myself since i graduated, i think. but i'm happy now. really delighted. so, go team claire. i can't believe i might be moving forward in my career with one of the most successful production companies in the world! and one that cares about small budget stuffs, too. they're still forward thinking despite the money available to them, i like that.
anyway, i am shitting myself. the interview is next thursday. any advice, peeps, for high-intensity interviews? yeah, i know i managed to get this far myself but still, on thursday i was a bit shaky and i really want to tune that up. i made her LOL, hah. i guess that's the way forward.
i was going to be start not-drinking for a month from today but i figure i have earned myself a glass of wine  i have hired three working title films for research:
united 93 (y)
my beautiful laundrette (y)
pride & prejudice
hey, i guess i gotta start to have a knowledge of their not-really-my-type films too, right? hehehe.
but i hired little children (non WT) too and i realllllly want to watch that. oooh! dilemma.
hahah. anyway. yes. i just wanted to share my good news. since i never really have good news to share. party at my flat!
