(Of which I may or may not be a member) is if they add 8 non-instrumental-only songs to the set we have.
I know what is meant when people say they are listening to it, but don't have a copy. That means it's early days.

(y) I'm sure at least a couple of the new tracks will go well with the acapellas...

Fuck it anyway. It may be the first time since getting into them that I haven't rushed out to get the album, but I'll probably get it eventually.

Expect greatness, no kidding. The Boys don't end up on soooo many mash-up tracks without reason. I hope Apathy & Celph Titled do some raps over a track or two IF it really will be an all instrumental album.

I don't know that Apathy would rock a cocktail beat.
I know, gang. Wait and see what it's like. I already have a pile of dope background music, though.

when i saw bs2000 (which played a lot of instrumentals) the crowd was yelling to adrock to play beastie (hiphop) trax......i imagine the same thing will happen once this club tour starts.......

That would be a shame. I wouldn't stop them from doing what they want, but it would suck to get that response. I think this album will open them up to a new audience, and they'll do for cocktail music what they did for hip-hop (ie take it to the suburbs). The wife is actually more excited about it than I am, funnily enough.
Crikey, there's one humdinger of a joke being played on us otherwise.

i know i come off as a jerk.......but the beasties have been my thing for over 20 years.....so i gotta lot of ideas in my head about this record.....but to think that they might not make another hiphop record (due to their age and years it takes them to work) is depressing.....

Why do you think that they might not make another hiphop record? Just because of their age?
These guys love music and will probably continue to make music on and off for the rest of their lives. I mean this stretch of 3+ years is the busiest they've been. With TT5B, touring, SGH, AIFST, letterman, conan, touring, back in the studio, more touring. And they're still doing hiphop sets.
I see no indication of them slowing down.
If age was a factor, I would have thought they would have stopped around the HN days. When they were busy with Milarepa and getting married and stuff.

I think there's another option: they go back into the vaults, grab all of their unreleased material going all the way back, pick up Adrock's solo album, the unreleased song they did with Q-Tip, the Nasal Tongues, a full version of Scenario, anything they recorded on land, sea, and air, throw all of that shit together, and release it all as a three volume set of rarities.

I have very low expectations for this record. There's a depressing feeling creeping up on me that the boys might have fallen off. We'll see.

And even then, it's usually to the strains of 'Those Shoes'.

Same here. I'm not too excited about it. I wouldn't say they've fallen off. More like they're going in a different direction.

They will continue to make interesting music including hip hop for as long as they are interested in doing so (I cannot see why they would stop). I am sure those guys will outlive us all. No need to worry about that.
The age thing is a red herring. It has not stopped several rock bands from trying to make good albums into their 60's. What seems to limit older artists in some cases is creativity. In my opinion this year will prove that the Beastie's are not short on creative and original ideas.
Furthermore even if they were in wheel chairs they could make tracks and release videos for the music -- my guess is that they would not place themselves at the forefront of the action and opt for animated videos, actors, etc. I am kidding about this later part.

As long as they're willing to perform they're old hip-hop numbers, i don't see why they'd stop writing new ones. you either do hip-hop or ya don't.
