I wonder if it will be a closed casket.
In related news Katt Williams & Chris Rock are now unemployed.
Here is the story................

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has announced it will hold a symbolic funeral for the N-word in hopes of increasing racial sensitivity.
The decision to hold a symbolic funeral for the word this summer was made after Don Imus' controversial comments about the Rutgers Women's Basketball Team.
The NAACP said the word is currently alive and well in pop culture, but the organization wants to bury it along with any feelings of hate attached to it.
The word can be heard in music, on cable and in everyday conversations.
"Wherever there's a clique of black people, you're going to hear that," a man said.
Channel 4's Melanie Lawson visited a Jacksonville barbershop, where there were several opinions about the usage of the N-word.
Damien Dempsey said he and his clients throw the word around a lot in the barbershop.
"In my era, it was part of my heritage. We came up calling each other that," Dempsey said.
However, he agreed the word should be used less.
Chance Davis was also in the barbershop. She said she's passionately against the N-word.
"It's too much blood and bad history behind that word. It should not be used by any of us," Davis said.
With opinions like Davis's, the NAACP has been gathering support for it symbolic funeral.
Some Hip Hop artists have also signed onto the campaign.
"It's a start. It's something. All of us don't appreciate being called that word," Davis said.
"If you really want to get down to touching someone or get them not to use it, you have to educate them," said Dempsey.
"That isn't going to work. That word's making people money right now. It's paying people's rent, so it isn't going to stop," said another barbershop patron.
The funeral for the N-word is expected to be held sometime this summer at the NAACP national convention in Detroit.

Does anyone else find it ironic that black celebs are the ones who made the n-word "cool" "hip" and part of pop culture.....I don't really use it myself but I think going through all the hooplah of having a funeral and trying to ban it only empowers it more

There was a great Bloom County strip about this.

Steve Dallas' mom: "Look at the cute colored girl."

Steve Dallas: "You can't call them that!"

Mom: "What about the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People?"

Steve: "No, no, no!"

Mom: "Well, how about Negro then?"

Steve: "You can't call them that either!"

Mom: Well, there's the United Negro College Fund..."

Steve: "No, Ma, you can't say that!"

Mom: "So what should I call them then?"

Steve: "People of color."

Mom: "People of color?"

Steve: "People of color."

Mom: "Colored people!"

The N-Word Eulogy........

Here lies the N-Word. You began as the Latin word niger, meaning black.
No matter what your origin, by the early 1800s you were firmly established as a degenerative nickname. Social scientists refer to disparaging words like kike, spic, chink, cracker and wetback when you are in the room. You carry hatred and disgust directed toward Black Africans and African Americans.
After a period of hibernation, you were reborn in popular culture. You became hard-edged, streetwise, and crossed over into movies like Pulp Fiction. It is interesting and confusing that African Americans embraced you in normal conversation. Richard Pryor called himself the All American N-Word and That Crazy N-Word. You became so infamousthat you have become the N-Word. You only need one name like Cher and Madonna.
Recently, Kweisi Mfume, President and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), gave a speech at Virginia Tech. There everyone was informed that a landmark decision was made with the people at Webster Dictionary. Recognizing their error, beginning with the next edition you will no longer be synonymous with African-Americans in their publication.
Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust and may you RIP with the F-Word.

See, nigga first was used back in the Deep South
Fallin out between the dome of the white man's mouth
It means that we will never grow, you know the word dummy
Other niggas in the community think it's crummy
But I don't, neither does the youth cause we
em-brace adversity it goes right with the race
And being that we use it as a term of endearment
Niggas start to bug to the dome is where the fear went
Now the little shorties say it all of the time
And a whole bunch of niggas throw the word in they rhyme
Yo I start to flinch, as I try not to say it
But my lips is like the oowop as I start to spray it
My lips is like a oowop as I start to spray it
My lips is like a oowop as I start to spray the

Last night I saw Lester Maddox on a TV show
With some smart ass New York Jew
And the Jew laughed at Lester Maddox
And the audience laughed at Lester Maddox too
Well he may be a fool but he's our fool
If they think they're better than him they're wrong
So I went to the park and I took some paper along
And that's where I made this song

We talk real funny down here
We drink too much and we laugh too loud
We're too dumb to make it in no Northern town
And we're keepin' the niggers down

We got no-necked oilmen from Texas
And good ol' boys from Tennessee
And colleges men from LSU
Went in dumb. Come out dumb too
Hustlin' 'round Atlanta in their alligator shoes
Gettin' drunk every weekend at the barbecues
And they're keepin' the niggers down

CHORUS
We're rednecks, rednecks
And we don't know our ass from a hole in the ground
We're rednecks, we're rednecks
And we're keeping the niggers down

Now your northern nigger's a Negro
You see he's got his dignity
Down here we're too ignorant to realize
That the North has set the nigger free

Yes he's free to be put in a cage
In Harlem in New York City
And he's free to be put in a cage on the South-Side of Chicago
And the West-Side
And he's free to be put in a cage in Hough in Cleveland
And he's free to be put in a cage in East St. Louis
And he's free to be put in a cage in Fillmore in San Francisco
And he's free to be put in a cage in Roxbury in Boston
They're gatherin' 'em up from miles around
Keepin' the niggers down

CHORUS

Are Black people from Canada called "African Canadians"?

Or does the American part of "African American" mean North America?

I'm completely serious in this question?

What about a Black person born in England?

I Lennox Lewis considered an "African Englishmen"?

African Americans are considered primarily descendants of enslaved Africans transported via slave ships.

^I asked Brett if they called them African-Canadians. He said, no, they're simply called "blacks." It's not offensive.

I rarely rarely rarely ever say "African American," "Italian American," "Japanese American" or whatever. That's silly.

it will never go away, because the black community has re-claimed it.

the lesbian community re-claimed the word 'dyke', you go out with a group of gay chick they'll say that word as a badge of pride.

Same thing really.

saying 'nigga' is the same thing. I still think it's awkward when white people say it. Or asian people. or whatever.

who gives a shit anyways. white dudes that say it look like dorks anyways so who cares.
