I'm going to the Paris Zenith gig on june 26th.
Are they playing the next night at Bataclan? I'm a bit confused as i've not seen any mention of this gig on the boards, but i've been on the link to the ticket agency and it says tickets are sold out on the internet.

I was planning to go to this instrumental gig as well, but I don't understand French....
What I understood only the GA tickets were sold out (at least yesterday), but there was still tickets for the seats. I haven't checked today what the situation is. Is it all sold out now?

Are there seats? Are there different kinds of tickets? The website for La Bataclan has confusing seating charts. And once again, I'm hampered by my lack of French. :o

By the way, I could listen to the music on their website all day. :)

I think there is only one type of tickets.

There are seats on the floor, but ticket price's the same.
Bataclan's a very nice place, one of my favourites in Paris.

That's great to hear. The website makes it look lovely.

Are there assigned seats?

I've seen what appear to be two different kinds of tickets, but I've never seen both offered at the same time. One was Category 1 - placement libre. The other was zone unique, I think.

bless you

"libre" sounds very "stand wherever you want" to me.

Right, you can stand on the floor or you can seat at the balcony, it's the same.
Le Bataclan is a very nice tibetan style building(y)

Ordered my tickets.:) There was only one option when I ordered and it was prix unique-hope it is standing not seating.

Venue looks nice and small, i'm getting excited now as only seen them at arenas before (NEC, Wembley and MEN arena)

Very very good show tonight!!!!!

I was at the Zenith last night, and the two shows were so complementary.
It started (tonight) with The Biz Vs the Nuge/Time for living, so after 2mn it was already very hot in the Bataclan!
We heard also(in total disorder):

Remote Control,
Lighten up,
Instrumental Root Down,
Sure Shot,
So Watcha want,
Zumo de naranja (which, according to Ad Rock, wasn't planned on the setlist),
Pow,
The maestro,
Song for the man,
Live at PJ's
Sabrosa
Heart AttackMan
Egg Raid on Mojo
3MC's 1DJ
Transitions(?)
Gratitude
Groove Holmes (or maybe last night...??)
MarK on the bus, (sang by Money Mark)
In 3's
Ricky's Theme (with a long introduction by Ad Rock about their friend Ricky, his cats, marijuana...)
B for my name
14th St break
Off the grid
Futtermans rule
Do it
Son of Neckbone
Sabotage

Ok... some tracks are probably missing, a few others might be wrong, but this is a short review after some drinks....
Talking about drinks, Mike D was quite....in a good shape at the end of the concert. He came back on stage after the break wearing a towel as a cape ,and all the boys were drinking champagne.
Once again, this show was huuuuge! Very good setlist, very good mood, the boys seemed very happy to play there, and me to see them!

THANK YOU BEASTIE BOYS!!!!

This gig was absolutely fantastic!
I was so looking forward to this, as The Insound from way out is my most played Beastie-record, and I love the new one as well, so I was well hyped for the show. All dressed up and high on adrenaline I totally enjoyed every second of it! For the second night in a row I "happened" to get a place right in front of Yauch at the barriers (just waiting for the bruises to come up...) and was he a sight for sore eyes! Just loved watching him play the stand up, and giggling about Money Mark's and also the others goofing about.
I just got home from the airport so haven't had time to go through my pics yet, but hopefully there'll be some worth posting somewhere...

This is my own personal thing, but I had low expectations for the Bataclan gig. I was not in the mood. I have to admit that I was not excited about these "gala events" and I only got the ticket because I was going to be in town for the other show. I didn't want to hear Egg Raid on Mojo and I haven't heard the new music yet.

I'm a big fucking moron because it was really terrific and I will eat my crow. I was blissed out at this show. It was that good. I even enjoyed the loopy opening act.

I was lucky to get a great place to stand because I didn't earn it by coming early. I was luckier to have great people all around me. Based on my limited conversations, people came from a bunch of countries to see this show. It sucked that this was the hottest club I've ever been in, but that was the only complaint and it's not really a complaint. I'm sorry if I sweated on any of you. I was worried about Mike D. when he wouldn't take his coat off at first!

The Beasties play their instruments better than I've given them credit for. The new music sounds good and they seem happy playing it, and I feel privileged that they're playing at so many small gigs where we can stand a few feet away. In return, the crowd really listened and danced to the new songs and gave them a chance. And the band gave the crowd enough of the old stuff to keep it moving (3 MCs, The Maestro, Sabotage).

I didn't think SWW was going to work but it did, and it was fun having MMM down front (bringing sexy back per Mike D). I like Mike as a lead singer. I never realized how important Yauch's bass is to the instrumental songs before. I like hearing Money Mark actually play the keyboards instead of leaping over them. Adrock's kind of addicted to the wah wah pedal, but can you blame him?

I'd like to know what Yauch said to Adrock before Ricky's Theme. Did he tell Adrock to tell the story about cat piss and weed?

I'm so sorry that I had to leave Paris. :(

If I could only see one Beasties show in my life, it would be a hip hop show. But it turns out that I can see a variety of Beasties shows, and isn't that lovely? :)

Thanks again for the nice review. I, too, am very curious to hear what SWW sounds like in the instrumental style.

I hope a recording surfaces soon from one of these gala events.

It was just an amazing show -- being in Paris, seeing them at Le Zenith the night before, all of it. At both shows, the crowds were really into it, but the shows were very different. They complimented each other -- a friend of mine who is a casual fan and was in Paris with me was at Le Zenith, and she loved it, and I thought it was a fun show.

Le Bataclan just blew me away. It was one of those moments where you just felt like you were a part of a once-in-a-lifetime show. It was a lot of fun to meet the people from the message board in Paris -- everyone was so great -- and Documad hooked me up with a great spot at the front of the stage. The crowd was fantastic and it really looked like the band was having fun. It was a great combination of instrumental-only and songs with lyrics.

And I'd never heard Live at PJ's live, and it was amazing to get the chance to hear it. Twice. If you have a choice of a non-Gala or Gala event, I'd say go with the Gala show. The other shows are great, but the Galas are really unique and if you're more of a hardcore fan (and if you're still reading this, you are) that is the one to see.

Just recovering from my 4 day trip to Paris.
The Zenith gig was good. Why did they not have a cloakroom though?
Bit bruised as everyone had huuuge rucksacks. Saw money mark wandering round parc de la vilette before the gig looking very lost near the big dome thing!

The Bataclan gig was amazing. I think it was the best gig i've ever been to! Having only ever seen the band in arenas before it was great being on the second row. As others have said both gigs complemented each other so well, it was great hearing alternate versions on the second night of SWW, root down, sure shot etc.

I will post photos when I learn how to!

weird moshpit action, even during remote control they were at it! alot of electricity in the room, people were waiting for an excuse to dance crazy. The beasties liked that I think...

I came to the gig dressed especially as lous locastrino, 1962 monte carlo "professional" gambler. (broken)white suit, black shirt, white tie(wich fell off pretty soon as the action started!)

does anyone have a setlist or some audio?
