This weekend I felt old (I am kind of old). We had a cookout and during a conversation about music a girl (in her early 20s) stated that the Chili Peppers were good even though they were getting old.
I mentioned that I had seen the Chili Peppers open for Fishbone in a bar. She said--who is Fishbone?

I started thinking about shows.......
I saw The Police in concert when they were young.
I saw Tom Petty on the Refugee tour.
I saw the Cars.
I took a date to see Chicago.
I saw Lynard Skynard before the plane crash.
I saw the Beasties open for Run DMC. They had girls in cages and they were shaking up long neck Bud bottles and letting the girls suck the foam out of the bottles.
I saw Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5.
I saw Faith No More open for Billy Idol--and both were good.
I have seen many other shows but I am going to stop because that is enough for you to see why I am old.

I saw .38 Special on tour with Cheap Trick for my very first concert. Wild Eyed Southern Boys/All Shook Up. Cheap Trick had this huge eye that came down from the scaffolding that had a red spotlight shooting out of the pupil. Bon E. Carlos left the stage a few songs into the set to do some blow.

Ha--you are old.

I saw Molly Hatchett. My musical tastes are crazy because I grew-up in the south. Thank goodness I discovered Earth, Wind & Fire very early in my childhood.

My older brother saw Molly Hatchett a couple times. They had some good songs.

My brother used to save all his concert tickets, so he had this thick old stack... seeing Led Zeppelin four times at, like, $7.50 a pop. I think he saw Kiss more than anyone else -- like seven or eight times. Fleetwood Mac, Frampton, Black Oak Arkansas, Edgar Winter, Elton John, the Cars...

He and I went to see Sprinsgteen the weekend before I moved for my first year of college. That's the only concert we ever saw together, I think.

My first concert was Tibetan Freedom 1998. I don't think that qualifies me as old.

Though the people in attendance were the first to hear the material off of Hello Nasty in concert. I'm sure when I bring that fact up in 10 years I'll seem almost as geriatric as you two. :p

I was there. I was the old dude smashed up against the left side of the stage. Did you see me?

It sucked when the lightning strike hit the stands.
