I bought a niiiiice 2,3 liter pitcher with a lid. I use it only for water, cause apparently all women prefer to drink water when they wake up in the middle of the night instead of just going back to sleep. Now, it's been in use for 6 weeks straight, and being the lazy ass I am, I haven't bothered to clean it once. I just fill it up again. My question is: Is it gonna grow algae or mold on the bottom or something like that. Cause I'm really too lazy to use a sponge on it. I'd even have to buy a fucking sponge first...

My water pitcher has never grown mold on it, even when I forget to clean it for months at a time. But the water in my building is all hard and full of calcium and other assorted shit, so I find I have to clean that off every once in a while.
It only takes like two seconds, surely you can't be that lazy.

Are you feeling anything unusual yet?

as long as you don't leave it out on the counter and put it right back in the fridge every time, it shouldn't grow mold. I know this because when I lived alone and had a brita, it never molded because I always put it away in the fridge. certain lazy ladies I know, namely cort, like to forget to put things away in the fridge which has led to moldly water pitchers. also to ruined jars of mayonaisse and spoiled bags of shredded cheese.

That thing is too fucking huge to put in my tiny euro fridge... But the water's never in it for more than four days tops. Once I empty it, I immediately refill it though, that's why I'm wondering...

Is the lid airtight, of just a loose thing with a open spout?
I ask as bugs getting in is a way of it becoming yukky, but to be honest, people are way too uptight about this stuff.
People tend to catch stuff off water bottles when they drink out of them directly, then don't wash them properly, but if it's not having much human contact, it's not so bad.
One of the most germ covered things in the home is kitchen towels, cloths, sponges, brushes, etc, so you could actually make it worse thay way.
Just give it a blitz with very hot water now and again.

It's loose. Also the pitcher not at all attractive to bugs who congregate in the upper corner of my ceiling and only leave it to fall dead on the floor or sting me, in the case of 'skeeterz! These gnats are becoming a pain in the ass, but that's for another thread.
Your advice is very good, thank you. Also you're right about the germ hotspots. As everyone knows you touch the doorknob on your way out of a public toilet, washing hands or no, you're dead in ten seconds! :D

my one teacher for my environmental engineering class suggested that you wipe down the lip, or whever you are sipping it from with bleach every couple weeks just to clean off any germs that have built up over that time.
in general though, the water itself should cause any problems, its more of whats being gummed up off of your mouth
