Yeah recycling. Shut up.

Definitely reminds me of Sabrosa and such on the Sabotage VHS. Exactly the kind of studio footage I love. I could watch the band just play songs for hours in that respect, big fan of the creative process.

Reasons Off The Grid >>>> Your Life.

1.) It reminds me of Eagle-Rock at the start

2.)Horovitz' absolutely un-fadeable guitar licks in the opening section

3.)The return of the fuzz-bass, and the fuzzening of the drum mics

4.)The way it sounds both menacing and uplifting, particularly at the break.

5.)Following the break, Horovitz and Yauch going all Young Brothers for a sec, really cool musical exchange

6.)It's the coolest (read not trading on 'goofy' appeal) song they've done since Ill Communication.

7.)After years of trying all sorts of stuff out, this sounds like the band finally being themselves musically. Yes, there are influences in there, but it has a sound so defined as to be the 'real' Beastie Boys in my mind.

8.)D pays tribute to Bonham, riding the groove.

9.)After playing it 100 times, I still like it.

10.)I pm'ed cj hood saying I wished they'd do something that sounded like a live-instrument version of Dj Shadow crossed with some old-school stoner rock. This is pretty much what I had in mind.

Kicks my fucking undies all over my house. I was flabbergasted when I heard it. It sounds like this is going to be the best instrumental album in a long time.

ANNNNND BONUS NUMBER 11.) I played it to my wife, who exlaimed both that she likes it (a fucking hard sell), and that Mike D definitely has middle-child syndrome.

Nice review KP!

I wonder what some of the jam sessions sounded like during the CYH and IC eras.

I mean they jammed for hours and then they would chop up and loop stuff together to get songs like Pass the Mic and So Watcha Want.

I wonder if they pulled any old unfinished shit off the shelf.

Cool musicians, cool sound, cool song - that's new Beastie Boys masterpiece!

Off The Grid is more valuable to society than my life ever will be.
It's rather depressing.

amazing song. Nothing else to be said besides that. I really really hope that they make a video of thier jam sessions. Kinda one of those things showing the process or what not. I agree with the fact that I can just sit and watch them jam for hours. I've watched that video so many times and it's still the best thing in the world.

that's a great question Laver, I wondered that myself. I love the new stuff, I checked out some of the new tracks on that button thing (the different color ones) and was feeling it.

^ I like that little dance between Yauch and H in the very middle. Im dying to see the rest of that!!! If I could just sit around and watch them do what they do for the rest of my life - I would be happy. I dont care if they made a 24 hr dvd. I'd sit there and watch it all. They could be drinking coffee, and talking about star trek in thier pajama's... I dont care. I'd watch it and love every second of it.

thats not creepy...

I missed you motherfuckers, I really did. Nice to get back on here and see people as excited as I am about this shit.

To think, people were doubting this shit. Studio footage >>>>> life itself.

By the way, the 'Young Brothers' remark refers to the sound of two guitars playing the same part.

you need to change your name to yauchomanic. 1% maniac 99% yauch.
ha, just kiddin. so weird though I was just thinking when the site was down, before we saw off the grid, that they should really do a cool black and white video, and so to now see both ratcage and off the grid in black and white is real nice. very little B-Boy b&w videos before this album!!!

The first time I saw it, I caught myself staring at my monitor with my mouth agape.

LMAO @ all the fools who were panicking and had no faith in an "instrumental" album before the website update.

Hope springs eternal.
