Hell yes!

Just bought my tickets from the pre-sale for me and my mates.

NB the presale link on this website is incorrect (it just takes you to ticketweb.ie or something)

You need to use the link supplied in yesterday's email from the Beastie Boys.

I just noticed it now and was surprised I could get them so easily - maybe many of you hadn't seen this email.

Get on it!

(I've lost my old password and couldnt wait to share the info so I've re-registered)

Good luck!

Question to those who bought in the pre-sale...

anyone still waiting (anxiously) for their confirmation email?

yeah... still not had the confirmation email 36 hrs since... and they won't answer the phone.

if this has screwed up its a disgrace... buying from a link from official bb email i thought it was gonna be fine to do presale, now me and 5 mates have sat past the general sale, seen it sell out, and i suspect my transaction will emerge to have never taken place.. i'll keep you posted.

update... all is forgiven. well, mostly. Spent ages on phone, and basically if you have a hotmail account they say they frequently have trouble sending confirmation through. If you have a booking ref you can track your order at their website anyway. I just got a bit panicky!

Why oh why didn't I go straight to check SeeTickets site instead of GigsAndTours...? I've never gotten their site to work (had trouble booking BRMC tickets earlier this year), and SeeTickets site works all right for me. Can't remember which one it was tho who didn't want to send tickets abroad, but for one of the gigs they did...

So does anyone have any spare tickets to any/all of the London shows? :o

beastiegirl
05-19-2007, 06:55 AM
I didn't manage to get tickets.

I've just moved house, everything in boxes-including computer so can't go online everyday, missed the pre-sale email.
My mate was gonna order tickets at 9am yesterday but his bus broke down on the way to work so by the time he got into work they'd sold out:(
Phoned my boyfriend to try and get them but his plane was delayed coming back off holiday by hours so was at the airport not home
Anything apart from medical websites (I do work in a hospital) are blocked at my work so I couldn't get online. Spent half an hour trying to phone for tickets but lost the will to live after the automated ticket line decided I wanted to see Barbara Streisand!

That really sucks, touts really bug me, it's just so immoral. Were these people dragged up?

But looking at them they've only got roughly a Ģ7.50 markup each ticket on ebay at the moment, I'd get in there quick and pick some up if you missed out on the official sale.

So does anyone have any spare tickets to any/all of the London shows? :o [/COLOR]

I might have a spare going for the 4th, dearie! And did you know, the fabulous Ms Yorkshire Rose is coming down to London and bunking overnight at mine for the show. But we've still got a sofa free... So you should definitely come, and we shall allow mr.peachy to escort this trio of BBMB lovelies to a night out in sumptuous Brixton. A friend of a friend owns a cocktail bar there not far from the venue too, so we'll totally do the "dress to impress" thing make a proper night out of it. And you can come adore my gorgeous child, too. What better offer are you ever going to get?

(ps we can totally throw things at Carlos down on the floor from our seats, and then come back to the board the next day and convince him it was CIA operatives, acting on command from the military industrial complex. Shouldn't be difficult :p )

I'm afraid it's bad news re: the place I thought we might all meet up on the 4th before the show. Turns out the woman who was the 'friend of a friend', her name is Kia and she was the general manager - she left there several months ago and is now managing some supercool club in Lanzarote. So if we go to Lanzarote, I've got us a connection, but sadly not in Brixton.

The place in Brixton is still there though, but it is not owned by the same people anymore either. It's called Tongue & Groove and depending on what website/review you read, it's either blindingly great or a shithole.

Sorry guys, wish I could have sorted out a cool meet-up event for us, but we'll have to come up with another plan!

For those that havent got tickets:

I bought a pair off ebay.
The guy mailed me to say, basically, the promoters have spies on ebay and they're randomly cancelling tickets that get sold on ebay (so he sent me my money back)
If thats true (and i have my doubts) then there might be some extra tickets available closer to the date.

I got 2 more for 5th Sept for Ģ6 more than face value.

See you there....

Just now, scanning the first page of ebay.co.uk, there are EASILY over 100 tickets on sale - I really hope the promoters really are cancelling tickets they see on there.

It's a tricky one - some individual shouldn't be able to buy 8 tickets and have them all listed on 'buy it now', but then I knew that the only way all my mates were gonna be able to get organised and come to gig with me was if I did the original purchase - I got 6 in the presale all going to diehard fan friends at cost price as a result.

I guess touts are always going to go hand in hand with a band/groups popularity.

Problem is my boyfriend now can't get the time off work. Waiting to see if my mate wants to go to both brixton and the roundhouse gigs. If not I may have a spare..

It's not just the strikes, it redevelopment work on the Victoria to Brixton stretch that's gonna hit a lot of people. It doesn't run after 10pm until November.

A replacement bus is running, but it's going to add at least half an hour to your journey, and thats not taking into account overcrowding after the gig. I only need to go to Stockwell to change for the Northern line, so I can just walk (briskly, making no eye contact!)

It's a quick walk, like 10 minutes tops. *sniff* I miss London.

******TUBE STRIKE*********

Most of you know the Victoria line won't be functioning AFTER the gig, but you should also be aware it's likely you won't be able to use tube TO GET to gig.

Tube strike planned from Monday at 6pm for three days.

I hope it gets called off - drivers get paid Ģ30k I heard which I reckon is too much already.

Anyway - best to be prepared to make alternative travel into Brixton.

(I've posted this in both Brixton threads to make sure everyone sees it)

Quote - Hey so anybody figured out a place to meet up before the show yet, or what?

Damn good point. Before/after the shows - the Beasties in London for 3 days! Party in the extreme!

I live in Brixton and want to throw a house party but it would probably be an extremely reckless thing to do seeing as I live in a room in a houseshare:(. So I'll be out and about in Brixton and Camden I guess? Hopefully see you around?

I'm going to all 3 gigs and have taken the week off work to party hard.
Unfortunately I'm too skint to have sorted out a decent costume for the Gala event - even though I've had months of notice - oh well! I'll do my best:D

Right - let's get organized -
My favourite places in Brixton centre are -

The Effra - quite spacious mixed/Carribean pub a bit out of the way but Tuesday night often has some great little jazz or Reggae bands (Tuesday if I remember correctly - they have bands on other random nights too I think?) - recommended
The Trinity Arms - really nice traditional English pub with nice beer garden and quality service (clean beer taps!)- not that massive and a little out of the way (go up the road with 'REDS' records on the corner until you reach a small square and you can't miss it) - probably my favourite - recommended
Plan B - good club in the centre of Brixton between the tube and the Academy - could be good for after gig shenanigans. (I Saw KRS One rock the place to pieces back in June for Ģ6! - with money going to a charity!) - recommended
SW9 - Dorrell Place - off the main road between the tube and the Academy - a bit small and busy but can be nice (can be quite good for cocktails)
Living - Coldharbour Lane - can be alright - quite spacious and easy to find but can be cheesy (upstairs usually if I remember correctly?)
White Horse - up Brixton Hill - a bit out of the way but a good place if you're familiar with the area - spacious enough and pretty cool at times - recommended
Brixtonian Havana Bar - Beehive place - between the tube and Academy on a back street - a bit out of the way but a great place - drinks are quite expensive - haven't been for a while but think it's still going well - again can be good for cocktails - again a good one for after the gig maybe? - recommededJust a few suggestions - anyone got any more? There are LOADS of places in the Brixton area - many of which are a bit kind of alcoholic old men pubs which I'm less likely to frequent.

In Camden I'll either be in the Underworld or the world famous Elephant's head I should imagine?

Peace!

I don't know nothin' about the Brixton places so I am happy to go along wherever the crowd wants.

However I cannot sanction either of those Camden venues. (I think I'd rather eat my own eyeballs than go to Underworld.) I'm more inclined to go to the Lock Tavern or to the Hawley, or perhaps the Enterprise.

Fair enough - I know what you mean about the Underworld - I meant the World's End (the ground floor pub not the Underworld venue beneath it) which is a bit shit I admit - but I've seen some great gigs at the Underworld (usually quite punky ones - I saw Jerry Dammers from the Specials DJ a great dub set there once) and thought it's a very esay place to find and big enough to fit loads of Beastie people.

I like the Elephant's Head for all the Rockabillies, punks, tattoos and hairstyles you can see there on any night of the week - plus the DJs are often playing some great early rock & roll 45s.

But Camden, like Brixton, has LOADS of places with a real mix of quality and tastes - I quite like the Enterprise and Lock Tavern - not familiar with the Hawley - I'm open to suggestions and would like to meet some nice funky people - the Roundhouse is more sort of Chalk Farm area so maybe it is better to go with a more Northerly place?

pm me people - let's get organized!

(p.s. Your comment about eating eyeballs and the Underworld - I accidentally banged heads with someone there in June while moshing at a Fu Manchu gig and split my forehead open - there was blood all over the place and I've got a reasonably big facial scar - I had a great time!)

(p.p.s Don't ask me what I was doing at a Fu Manchu gig - they're alright - a lot of my friends like them and I enjoy live music a lot)

As the northern and picadilly lines are running I could, in theory get back to my mates in alperton, but after seeing the news with people being turned away from the tubes that are running, I don't know whether to risk it.

I could drive but have never driven anywhere near brixton. Only been to brixton once before but I havent got a clue where to park safely.

That was an immense gig. Seriously bruised ribs from all that intense moshing.

Egg Raid on Mojo?!!
Heart Attack Man??!?!
Lighten Up, Sabrosa, Brass Monkey...

Holy shit that was heavy. The crowd action to Sabotage was a squillion times more intense than at Wembley last time.

Ears ringing, feet bleeding, incredible incredible. Someone else should write a more eloquent review, I've gotta go to bed to be up for work.

But my word. Staggering.

What a great night it was!
Met all the girlies before the gig, and even paul! I had an upstairs ticket, but then venus and her sister helped me to get in! :D
We got pretty good place almost next to the mixing desk and there was no tall people in front of me!!! but around third or fourth song venus sort of blinked "Wanna go down?" and I was totally up for it. We danced our way down and ended up right in the middle like on the sixth row of people or something! :D We had a great time there, bouncing up and down!

Lots and lots of fun though I do think that the sound could have been better on the non-instrumental stuff. Great stage though - never seen screens on at the academy before and the lighting was fab. Loved Tough Guy and Egg Raid though was holding on for Shake Your Rump which didn't materialise. Oh well. I was also stood behind the most pilled up man on the planet, and his friends who kept us amused with their 'interesting' dance technique including the reverse 'jazz hands' and the 'rock on Tommy' style imaginary braces grabbing. Quite fascinating.

Yeah, but not by much, really. 6 of one half a dozen of the other, you know? I would say if you are already on the branch of the Northern Line that goes up that way, then go to Chalk Farm, but if the first thing that comes along is a High Barnet train, just take that to Camden Town.

According to mtv (http://www.mtv.co.uk/channel/mtvuk/news/06092007/the_beastie_boys_live) mike dropped in organ donor by shadow at one point? That shit would of been orgasmic for me.

Yep, he did that at the Stockholm show too. And Release Yo'Delf by Method Man if I remember correctly.

I really enjoyed the first show. The boys had fun and you could feel the eneregy. Also the London crowd surely knows how to have fun. I got to finally hear Skills To Pay the Bills and Alright Hear This Live.
But the second night was just AMAZING - boys were on fire. And the setlist - Posse in Effect, Egg Man and Paul Revere -I didn't expect that. When I heard Adrock saying " Now if you know the words to this song ..." I felt like the happiest person on earth.:p

I had a great time partying with my firend and also met some really nice people standing next to me.

I would love to say something more but the shows were such an intense experience and seeing them 3 nights in a row was just mind-blowing - now I need to recover.:D

here are the setlist:

some pics/video of varying quality available on my myspace page (the last 4 pics are by Timmie btw).

It was a great gig, the only negative for me was the sound when the music was coming from Mix Master Mike rather than the instruments, the vocals were fine but MMM was to quiet and flat sounding, hardly any bass esp on track like Brass Monkey. I was right at the front so maybe further back it was better?

I've been putting up my videos on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=bgrrrlie). There's a few up already, and there's quite a few more to come! :D
Just upping Paul Revere! Get the chills every time I watch it!!!
It's gonna take a while before I've done with the photos, but I'll put the best up on the Photos section.

Nice videos. Now, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but... you stood absolutely still just to get some video footage? Doesn't that kinda limit the fun? Can't help but feel gigs are for getting stuck into rather than videoing for the future, even if you've seen em plenty!

There's quite a few videos that I haven't posted just because I couldn't stand still! And that's why most of the videos
I have posted are instrumental ones, I'm just groovying down to them.
And I am rather old so I'm not in condition of jumping up and down whole songs....
How many other almost half a century old ones you get on the front at BBoys gigs? Eh? And I still feel them!!!!
I am grown up with photography so for me not to take pics of the special moments in my life is unthinkable.
And all the 20 times I've seen BBoys have been very special moments!

I liked Adrock's comment just before playing Sabotage on the 5th Sept where he said about all the photos and footage and youtube stuff was cool - but nowhere near to actually being there experiencing the moment in real life.

The sights, the sounds, the smells, the injuries! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!:)

But it's not like you're metres away from the boys on a regular basis - you're going to take a few snaps right?

When camera-phones became a lot more popular (about 10 years ago?) I used to find it a bit disappointing or square or something that the first few rows of a gig were full of people holding up recording devices of one description or another, but now I'm kind of used to it and take photos when I'm not dancing, moshing, pogo-ing or making an asshoe of myself in a variety of other ways.

Plus it was some grainy old fan-shot footage that inspired AIFST apparently - and that's a freaking masterpiece!

Many thanks to everyone for sharing photos, setlists, videos - anything that can aid more badly abused memory!:):o

Can anyone point me in the direction of places to get live audio MP3's? I'd love to get one for Brixton 5th sept as that was awesome.
Thanks
