From mic-to-mic
Brownstoner.com, a blog devoted to the historic brownstones of Brooklyn, reports Adam Yauch was spotted with his wife and daughter at an open house of a brownstone for sale in Clinton Hill last Sunday.
The property, located at 219 Washington Avenue, is a 3,800-square-feet, 4-bedroom home with -- get this! -- a toilet in the master shower. The house is priced at a whopping $2.4 million.

Are you referring to my comment on mic-to-mic for the house story? Different opinions don't seem to be tolerated as my comment has been removed. I appreciate thats its your/Mira's website but in the interest of open discussion it should surely have been left up.
Anyway, my opinion (that was removed) was that posting that particular story is overstepping the mark in relation to reporting band news. Its absolutely nobody's business what house Yauch is looking at, or how much he's paying for it, or whether or not the master shower has a toilet (tasteful reporting?!). Its his personal matter and not music/band related. Thats lowering down to the level of HEAT/OK/NOW/CELEB bullshit magazine.
Who owns and runs the site has final say, thats totally right and proper. The item may may not have been wrong, but its certainly not classy. Even famous people deserve to have their privacy respected regardless of whatever rewards come with celebrity, and whether we like it or not.

It's completely right that the site operater has the final say in what is posted.
The thing is celebrity is relative, and in a group of people who might see one to three shows per tour tops, a person with the means to see all or the majority of the stops is comparatively a celebrity. I challenge somebody to prove me worng.
Certainly these people would be celebrated for the contributions their associations and adventures afford them. That and the credibility these people hold in the minds of others is what ultimately leads to them being revered in small circles like these. It's like when I used to skate. The person with more photos, more coverage, a deeper bag of tricks, they're a name to other people; a celebrity.
So what I'm saying is that it's sad that there's no sympathy for celebrities on a large scale (particularly ones who don't try to act like celebrities), when general celebrity on this small scale has caused so many unusual exchanges within this group of fans. It's a double standard.

Double standards is true.
I also think its ridiculous for people to use the argument of "oh, these people are ridiculously well paid, its all part of the game.." etc. Thats a complete load of self-serving bollocks. Its like using whatever argument you can to defend your own wrongful behaviour.
We all know that some celebs look for publicity and their private life becomes part of what they sell out for money. But the Beastie Boys are definetely NOT in this category of celebrity.

i think y'all may be making a little too big a deal over it. it's not like mira, midzi, and hot sauce tapped Yauch's house phone anf followed his family to the house; it was reported in a completely other blog somewhere else and they just brought it to attention. BFD. regardless of what degree of celebrity status your at, whether it's self regulated or not, when you'r famous this shit happens. maybe more some than others, but there'll always be people who watch'em too close. if you're looking to feel bad for them, there are plenty of candid celebs who get it far, far worse than the beasties.
it's an inevitability that these types of stories are going to surface.

I think the blog is excellent. I've been very impressed by it. I've never had a negative thought until the house story. That story seemed out of character and I wanted to comment on it. It's not a huge deal -- he apparently didn't buy the house so it won't do anyone any good to sit outside the house. I'm not sure why this story made me uncomfortable when a mention in gawker stalker doesn't.

Why does it seem "out of character" as you put it, quite the contrary, do we all forget about the duffelbag at the airport luggage carousel story?
I also don't mind the gawker stalker reports. "Michael Diamond of the BBoys was spotted getting a cup of tea with his wife at Starbucks yesterday morning" doesn't lend itself to obsessive Mike D fans hunting him down at that Starbucks to get a glimpse of him.
As obsessive as some are when it comes to the Beasties, I would expect some to make that house a stop on their next trip to the city right after they visit Ludlow & Rivington, rifle through his mail and trash and whatnot.

Yes, thank you for encouraging (and admitting to) law breaking and encouraging people who might not buy the album to just download it for free off the Internet.
Reprehensible. I would've expect as much from a different website, but this is a website doing something that will harm the band.
Encouraging people to just provide their email addresses so you can send them links to illegally pirated material.
You really should be ashamed.
EDIT: Oh, and thanks for the 58 paragraph essay about how MCA was in a bad mood. Boy, I can't believe he didn't acknowledge the same psychopath who put his potential new address on the Internet for everyone to see. They never posted a link.
I never said they did. I said they promoted the fact that it leaked and promoted the fact that "It be everywhere". Sharing a bootleg of a live show (which they did) is fine because the band isn't trying to sell that recording. Promoting the fact that it leaked, encouraging people to check their favorite file sharing sites to get it is wrong. Just ask the people that run the Hub, the only rule they have on the Hub is no sharing officially released material.
It's like being a newspaper reporter and reporting a story about the victim of a murder before the victims' family has a chance to be notified.
I think the people at Mic2Mic's morals have gotten compromised more than once because they seem to be in a rush to be first with any and all news about the Beastie Boys.
It's also hilarous that all posts have to be pre-screened before being posted. Wouldn't want anyone having a differing opinion to be heard from or anything.

Exactly. A simple post that wondered why it was the bands fault that there was pushing was met with a gigantic veto, while 5-6 other posts condemning the band for their heinous actions in not telling people what to do somehow made it through.

I don't remember reading 5-6 pots condemning the band. I've been to a number of Beastie Boys shows where the band has actually said something about the actions going on in the "pit" directly in front of them. I've actually got a video from a show where I was at the rail and had a crowd-surfing idiot land directly on my head and Mike D addressed it immediately. I've seen Horovitz direct security/bouncers to specific individuals in the crowd that he wanted out.
I was actually kind of surprised that nothing was said on stage by the band. I'm not offended or let down that they didn't. Maybe they didn't want to, or maybe they've done enough festivals now to know that it's not gonna stop anyway. Whatever.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with the blog's owner deciding to filter what gets posted over there. It's a personal blog that she and others put a great deal of time into. They want it to be positive and to celebrate the band. They do it to a service to others who enjoy having "inside" information first. This site does not offer that.
Why would she want to be attacked at her own blog that she obviously puts a lot of time into? That shit got way out of hand here. There were a few jabs and pokes taken by a poster or two here that I thought were funny in a sarcastic sort of way. I kind of smirked, shook my head and went on with life. Then, it got pretty brutal and way out of line imo. I know some of those same people tried to post shit in her blog too, but she doesn't want it there.

I wouldn't expect you to be able to have an objective opinion about this Pshabi, you're one of that blog's biggest fans.
I am one of the blog's biggest fans, but I can definitely have an objective opinion. I like the blog because it celebrates my favorite band w/o having to wade through the negativity that is on this board. I like having information that I wouldn't otherwise have. I like knowing that there are people out there enjoying a show I can't go to and taking the time to send pics at that very moment. It excites me to know that there are people out there who love this band as much as I do.
I account for my actions and my actions only. I've got the Mix Up on preorder already. I've paid for the album well in advance of receiving it. I knew it would leak, and honestly, I've checked the torrent sites everyday for it. It finally leaked and I happily scooped it up. I'll have my official copy too and I'll sleep at night.
I'd be willing to bet that you and all the other critics have at least one piece of downloaded music on your computer that you didn't pay for. You do, don't you? We all do.
I see this as another opportunity for people to attack an individual and the same characters are jumping at. Surprise, Surmotherfuckingprise. It's hypocritical.

I believe that a couple of you are confused. Mic to Mic is a blog. Isn't a blog a personal diary that reflects whatever opinions the blog owners wish to publish? It's all personal opinion. It's not a band-sponsored site. It's not a media site. If you want a Beastie Boys themed blog that reflects your tastes, start your own blog. You are free to quit reading their blog. Only you can't quit reading their blog, because it's just that good, and you can't help yourselves.
Do I read Mic to Mic and sometimes think "why did they say that?" Yes. It doesn't exactly fit my personal style, but that's not surprising, because IT'S NOT MY BLOG. I usually enjoy M's reviews, even though I sometimes disagree with her when we see the same show. But then I like to hear more about a concert than the setlist and "it was awesome." I'm sure none of you have ever noticed, but I'm sort of long-winded myself. :p
