Here's Sunday Night HipHop setlist:
Gratitude
Time for Livin'
Remote Control
Off the Grid
Body Movin'
Sure Shot (Turntables)
Shake Your Rump
Jimmy James/Happy Birthday
Do It (Instruments)
Egg Raid on Mojo
The Maestro
Electric Worm
Shambala
Son of Neckbone
Something’s Got to Give
Root Down (Instruments)
Root Down (Turntables)
Pass the Mic
So What’cha Want
MMM Solo
Intergalactic
Ch-Check It Out
Heart Attack Man
Sabotage
Still seems to be quite a few instrumental songs. I guess I was thinking the HipHop sets would be 95% HipHop. But I like the twist of doing two Root Downs, and throwing in JimmyJames.

Cool, cool shit. I read a remark where MCA said he didn't want to disappoint people or something. I wouldn't be disappointed if I never heard Intergalactic ever again. No disrespect, at this point they would be more likely to disappoint going over old, old ground I feel. They're onto something here, they just need to go all out.
Mixmaster sets could be treated like the instrumentals on the Pageant tour, but 2 or 3 of them (as mini-sets) that don't comprise of songs already in the setlist, as looks to be the case with Root Down.
Fuck it, just let Yauch get some shine, and do an instruments driven version of Stand Together. If he doesn't get to do the whole Creed 'Stand-in-front-of-a-big-big-fan-with-his-shirt-open-singing-'With Arms Wide Open'-moment', he's likely to quit the band.
Just my two pennies. They'll do what they want I'm sure. It's so cool they're doing Maestro and such again. And Transitions is a sweet fucking inclusion. Maybe we could drop Shake Your Rump for a little Professor Booty/Grasshoper Unit/Sounds of Science???

I'm a bit confused about the direction these "two-night" gigs are going to be going in for the future. There's no difference between the setlists from Saturday and Sunday. Yes, there's some changes, but they both have the same style.
Saturday was supposed to be instrumental and Sunday was supposed to be hip hop according to everything we heard prior. Did they balk at the idea of the "instrumental" set? Don't get me wrong, I love the new set, but I just don't get it.
I'm DEFINITELY not complaining but I don't see the point of doing two shows if this is how it will be. Unless, they just like the small venue shows and want to offer both at various stops. It'll be interesting to see what direction they take this in. I'm almost feeling like they second guessed themselves at the last minute on this one.

well put. i agree, the new setlist is a pleasant surprise, though there was hardly a distinction between the gala show and headlining set sans 4 or 5 songs. but, given it's there first run of the season, i'm sure they're still testing the waters to see how they want to go about this tour. i expect by the time they get down to the u.s. tour they'll be well settled and honed in on a polished, fresh stage show.

I agree. For the past two months, I've hardly cared about the album or upcoming live shows, but after seeing the setlist from the Crocodile I'm intrigued. It's such a change from the last 4-5 shows I saw. I expect that the band will be working out some kinks and trying some new and old things. I'm prepared to cut them all kinds of slack.
It's going to be different from the pageant tour. I might like it more, I might like it less, but I'm glad that they're not on autopilot. I love that about this band.

they did some more hip hop the 2nd night with mix master mike behind the turntables, maybe that will be the only difference. Im glad they do it like this way with a lot of instruments (y)

What's goin' on? It's like going to one of those Bennie Hinn churches where there are so many followers that they have to have several services. Can I get a Hoo hoo? Can I get a huh huh? I can't wait to see them in a small theater. Ya'll check out "The Variety Playhouse" in L5P, ATL. Kalabash!

"...most bands play instruments, so what do you say, really? Except for, we don't usually, or always, or all the time.Something like that..."-Yauch

I really can't figure out whether you're being serious here or not, but I have gotten the sense over time that Yauch may be a bit of a control freak and those with control issues can be a tough to deal with in collaborative situations. It seems that a lot of the stuff the Boys have been doing lately may involve some struggle between his instincts and input from Mike and Horovitz. Yauch has been reported to have been pushing for an all instrumental album since Check Your Head and it seems like this project is pretty much Yauch's deal. Not at all saying that Mike and Horovitz weren't down with it, but it's just my sense that Yauch may be exerting a bit of executive decision-making lately.

i've mildly gotten this vibe as well. "control freak" may be an over-statement though. i definitely think he's got the strongest opinion when it comes down to it. not to the point where he's a burden to work with (obviously), but i can see mike and adam h being more passive and submissive. it's funny how yauch is the goofiest beastie, but at the same time the most serious.

LOL!!! You can't?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
There's a difference between hyperbole and sarcasm. By the way, grown men shouldn't write things like "LOL!!! ?!?!?!?!?!" Just saying.

Hey Youngremy (and anyone else who was as the shows):
Were there any notable theatrics, videos, stage schtuff/props during the performances?

If only we could get some High Plains Drifter, Slow Ride, The New Style, and Posse In Effect...

I'll second KP's suggestion for some Prof. Booty. Yauch hit a verse of Prof. Booty in Switzerland on the Pageant Tour.

Does Yauch ever do bass/vocals at the same time? He seems to only do one or the other.

sunday night they busted out the multimedia theatrics- the videos that go along with this tour are going to be bright and colorful...
and they end each set with a toast to the crowd and champagne glasses...

just so everyone knows... the instrumental version of root down is actually the entire cover of Jimmy Smith's "Root Down (and Get It)"
so friday night, from what I've heard, they played the cover version, but did not enlighten the fans with vocals...
sunday night they rocked the cover version(with everyone thinking they would bust out lyrics) then dropped their instuments, picked up their mics and MMM dropped the BB version...
so it was a nice contrast, needless to say it would be cool to hear them combine the two and rhyme over the main hook from Smith's version
did that make any sense?

Perfect sense. I think I'd like the two-time version...where they play instruments for the instrumental, then pick up the mics and let MMM do his stuff.
