I read somewhere were AdRock said that there were some 42 tracks cut.
That is amazing for just one album. Maybe we will get to hear some killer B-sides, as well.

It kinda sucks that it wasn't a double disc release.

Dude, you should be happy that they're releasing an album so quickly to begin with, so much as "complaining" that it's not a double disk.
Lol for someone that didn't want the record to be instrumental to begin with, you're kinda contradicting yourself dude.
Not tryin' to argue, just being observant.

The instrumental stuff is okay, so far.
I used "The Rat Cage" for a video I produced today.
But, if they did 42 songs, then a double disc extravaganza should have been done.

I think the new stuff is awesome!
But still, you should be happy that they're putting out a new record so soon to begin with.
They probably had a reason to not put out a double-disc record, and they'll probably release the rest of the tracks in the future.

I think it's coming together...
Those unreleased tracks will be used on the newer Mix-Up album with vocals.

I think it's good that they slimmed the last two albums down so much so we know we're getting the best of the best. besides i'm still holding out for 'the vault' one day... or maybe even like a 10-disc set of unreleased stuff... how awesome would that be.

i'm glad that they chop it down to the real joints. i can take some mediocre tracks here and there like the next guy, but i always know that a beasties rekkid will always be killer tracks from start to finish, no filler. and it's really not rare for bands to write 50+ songs for consideration for a new record, in fact it's quite common.
and oh boy, the vault is a long-standing dream of mine as well, rodie. my god, i pray that eight years or so down the line i'll get to hear a "mario-recorded", "check your head era", mis-take of biz markie farting on a snare drum circa a random 1991 post-party recording session with q-tip snorting in the background.
well, not so specific, but you know what i mean.

For some reason I was thinking about how Beck recorded Guero and The Information somewhat simultaneously (he started working on The Information first but Guero came out first...). Both albums have different producers and a different sound overall... it could be possible that they're working on some hip-hop stuff but decided to keep it separate.

dude, you read my mind!(hope, hope- although i'm certainly not complaining about the hot fire we are currently recieving)

It's not really uncommon for bands to record dozens of tracks before the final trim down. For example, Linkin Park supposedly recorded 101 song demos for their new album (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linkin_park). I remember reading 50 Cent did something similar for his last one. Just saying.

considering each song sounds liek a big jam session I dont doubt this.
