The studio said the man, who was not identified, died when a truck carrying a camera platform crashed into a tree while following a stunt vehicle on Monday. Filming on the movie, "The Dark Knight," was not taking place at the time, and no actors were involved in the accident.
The accident took place during a test run at a racetrack near Chertsey, south of London.

10:51 AM TEXAS TIME: There's been some whispers of it happening, but this is the first time I've seen it reported online. According to OMELETE.COM.BR, a 7 minute TDK prologue featuring The Joker (Heath Ledger) will be shown in IMAX with I AM LEGEND. Obviously, it'll only be paired with the IMAX showings of Will Smith's latest.

"See You in December" makes a lot of sense now, doesn't it! (Thanks to the many BOF'ers who sent the link.)

I read that he said playing this role and one other (don't know which, sorry) contributed to his depression and sleeplessness. He was so into it he found it hard to tear himself out, even after he was done and on to other roles.

Not the depression, but, yeah -- the sleeplessness. I guess he was getting about 1-2 hours a night. Plus he had locked himself away for
weeks in a hotel room creating this Joker diary and sort of becoming the character.

Then they were shooting that Gilliam movie in really cold temperatures in England, and he came down with pneumonia. I'm sure that his
immune system was shot to hell.

He's repeatedly said, though, that Joker is the most fun he'd ever had as an actor and the most fun he figured he probably ever would have.
So that's good, I guess.
