i've always liked the french open, clay's the best surface to play on, everyone sliding around and fucking up, getting pissed off, it's great. each day finishes around 3am brissy time and luckily for me i dont start work til midday :D and fox sports 2 is showing it 24/7 :D :D

so, anyone else following the tennis?

any thoughts on predicted winners? any upsets? Petrova out first round was pretty huge. and Roddick's getting his ass handed to him on a plate atm

my thoughts, Nadal in the mens and Henin or Kuznetsova in the womens

Believe it or not I was a serve and volley madman in High School. I had something like a 60-5 record. Our team went to the state finals 3 years in a row. I made all-state my senior season. I was offered division 2 & 3 college places on teams but no scholarship.

Clay is a good surface for Bjorn Borg. The ball bites the surface so it is hard to cover the net when the ball sets up for passing shots.

I used to watch and love tennis. I played the other day and I still have a good serve. I am an old school Johnny Mac fan.
I like the red clay and I really enjoy the grass at Wimbeldon.

What is it with the French?
They name a stadium after Roland Garros.
They name an airport after Charles De Gaulle.
They name the most populated city after a slutty hotel airess.

Some players just cannot overcome problems with different surfaces. Conners could not win the French and Ivan Lendl could not win on grass.

alot of players have trouble on clay, that's what makes the french open so interesting. i think even federer has never won there even tho he has 10 grand slams under his belt.

something like 8 of the 9 american men have been knocked out already. there's only one token player left in it.

the girl that defines the definition of beautiful won, so i cant complain :D
i prefer the womens game, just because the mens game is predictable. nadal wins on clay, federer wins on everything else. there's still lots of possibilties for the womens final

the Federer vs Davydenko game is some quality shit. reminds me of Safin v Federer at the aussie open 2005. i'm kinda hoping Davydenko wins, it's been a fairly even game so far
