Just wondering how many people are actually benefitting from the new format of the MB (widescreen) versus how many people are operating with a Non-widescreen type monitor.

My macbook's screen is sufficiently wide, but I would prefer to make the internet window smaller than the whole width of my computer screen. I'm a multitasker!

I too am getting tired of designing for 800x600, but never like designs that stretch to fit. I've done them for work, and they always look good on some people's screens and crappy on other people's screens because of their fluidity.
Somebody once wanted me to design a site for them, which I did, then they got all pissy because the site had to stretch, because all cool sites do it.
I had to remind them of a few sites that didn't, were used my millions of people a day, and were nice and centered.

so far i have only browsed from work. but i also multitask like documad, so prefer to have my firefox not at full screen (i have it at a width that fits in with every other forum i use - maybe 75% of my screen space) but if i maximise it i still have to scroll.
