I was big on "Long Way Round" as well as the National Geographic stuff he did with the Polar Bears in Churchill or treking through rain forests in Honduras,so this sounds cool,my kind of celebrity....

Two men, two bikes, two continents By Jordana Camerman

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman take the scenic route from Scotland to South Africa

"Actors and friends Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman have embarked on a motorcycle journey that will take them down Europe and Africa.

Dubbed Long Way Down, the pair is traveling from John O’Groats at the northern tip of Scotland to Cape Agulhas, South Africa, the southernmost tip of the continent.

In 2004, the duo circumnavigated the globe horizontally, from Scotland east to New York, and their trip was made into the BBC documentary Long Way Round, which aired on OLN in Canada.

McGregor and Boorman will pass through 20 countries, many of which have areas that are plagued with violence and poverty. As they did on Long Way Round, the duo will stop at various UNICEF-sponsored sites along the way to get to know the local people. They will also visit Africa’s natural and cultural landmarks, see wildlife up close, and drive though some seriously challenging terrain.

In addition to helping UNICEF, the bikers hope to raise money for the Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland and Riders for Health, a charity that supports motorcycle-riding health workers in Africa.

Long Way Down will also be made into a series for TV. As of yesterday, the pair was in Reggio, Italy, about to embark of the African part of their journey."
