its just seems like it was missing during the Hello Nasty/TT5B days, but on the recent bootleg videos on youtube of their instrumental shows it just seems like his back popping shit and has that swagger.

he actually literally lost his "swagger" back on a late ill communication gig in singapore, january 16th 1996. he left it in his hotel room where it was later lifted by a refugee gyspsy, smuggled into malaysia in a hollowed out bible, and auctioned off through the black market to an albino centaur. though soon to be sucked into a netherealm via a black hole crafted by a 200 year-old dragonlady and allegedly vaporized and scattered among the dust of jupiters third ring at the stroke of midnight on new year's day of the year 2000.

but he got it back apparently. he must know people.....

I know they must get sick of this kind of thing and/or it just seems so weird to them, but something does seem a little different. As they've said (and anyone old enough to have experienced it/have the introspection enough to do it notices) we evolve over time. It does seem to me from the sasquatch interview and a few other things (some call it intuition or snap decisions) that they're (espcially Yauch) talking with a bit more swaggar and bringing back the "fucks and the shits". That response that Yauch gave something like "that motherfuckin' shit stuff ...", just seems so different from their persona at least in the TT5B era. I didn't see much of them except in concert for the HN era, so I can't say. It seemed during the TT5B era that they'd maybe cleaned up a bit. I figured, besides natural evolution, that maybe having kids changed the tone of their day-to-day conversations coupled with the fact that they'd been out of the limelight (more or less) for so long and so came off as clean versions of what I'd remembered. Yes, TT5B was said by that Scottish dude of AIFST, to have brought back the "fucks and shits", but in interviews and the like, they seemed to be more careful with their words/using more standard American English ... uh, I don't know if I know how to put it, but something does seem a little more raw, laid-back, carefree. More like the "we don't give a fuck" era. It might just be the perception we get from seeing them strictly the way we do -- interviews, etc. Or maybe as their child raising years have advanced, their restraint has mellowed too. I know I'm talking shit based on little or nothing, but I'm seeing the swagger you're talking about now more than before.

I think that they have thier rhythem back because this is what they really want to be doing. Obviousley we all bitched about the cd at first, but when you listen to songs like off the grid, theres just something about it - something different that I feel... I think thier really into this because its what they love. Yauch never really wanted to rap, he's always been into his bass, and we all know that H is crazy about his beats and sampling, its bound be to magic.

as for thier carefree attitude, I have noticed changes in Yauchs attitude and personality, it seems like he's kind of back tracked in his ways, but I dont think it's a bad thing. I dont think he's as into the whole buddhist scene as he was, if he still is into it at all. I've heard from people who have read interveiws that he said he didnt know what he was thinking at the time that he was hardcare into the scene.

he said at some point that there are many other people and organizations doing so much for the cause who know so much more about the situation that he should leave the mass rallies and events up to them. not exactly that, but kinda. laver knows the quote, i think he pm'ed a link to it for me at one time.

laver, a little help, brova?

oh yeah, i remember that promo pick from back during TT5B days where our three amigos are standing in front of that big globe and yauch's flipping the camera the bird with an enormous grin on his face. i was suprised, though delighted to see that the raw character and mischief had returned, same goes for songs like "hey fuck you".

If anyone in the band, I'd say Adrock is the one who NEVER lost that swagger.

Thank you! I mean, I love them, and him, no matter what they do or who they decide that they want to be because I've grown up with them, thier like brothers to me (metephorically speaking) so you love them no matter what. And I will be the first to admit that, although I admired what he was doing with Tibet/Buddhism, it kind of annoyed me because I had gotten so used to, and so in love with the old LTI/PB Yauch, and I know he's not going to be that way forever, but you expect them to be like normal people instead of trying to be... oh... shall I say, super human in a way? It's nice to see them acting "normal" again - Like they were kind of untouchable in the HN days, but now thier just normal guys again. Like you could bump into them on the streets again, and it wouldnt be some big "omfg superman!" thing...

I'd say, from the scarce evidence so far, he maybe seems a little more non-stop pumped. But he never lost his swagger. And just on their performances in general, I think Yauch's been on another level with regards to precision since the '04 comeback. The man spits!

I was mesmerized by Adam H cuz he was TOTALLY into “Off the Grid” at the Croc, just goin to town on the electric guitar! His facial expressions were so animated and exciting to see up close. He had some serious vibes emanating! I get chills n quivers just think abt it. :p

I noticed his MC style is more like it used to be, what with the yelling and stuff.

Here's an excerpt of my lil Crocodile Cafe' show review I posted here (http://www.last.fm/user/xxxjennyx/journal/2007/06/4/441932/). Thee thing about this show was Horovitz. It was allllllll Horovitz. *sigh* God the man's great.

...This reminds me of all the banter. Another reason the Beastie Boys are ugh, perfect. Horovitz was in RARE form. He had this glow emerging from him like he's on top of the world. It just made the night extra special. Few people in this world have that inexplicable "IT" quality and usually they're celebs because of said "IT". Yeah, that little shit's got "IT". Wow, and luckily my barricade spot for the night was what me and my crew refer to "The H Spot". YAY! Hbomb was shreddin on his guitar, smiling throughout, making witty comments, ugh, did I mention just plain perfect? At one point he was told by an audience member that he was a pimp. To which he replied, "No sir, I am not a pimp. I am a musician by profession. If you meant that as a compliment, thank you." Horoblitz has more grace wit style and sass in his pinky finger than most of us do in our entire bodies. At one point he asked for requests to which I grew some balls and shouted, "SLOPPY DRUNKS"! He heard me *gasp* *faint* and said "uh oh looks like we've got a Country Mike fan in the house" then Mike's all "Nobody likes a Sloppy Drunk." (ain't that the truth) But no really, was a special moment for me. Another fun moment was towards the end of the show when Mike started lippin off to Adam. I totally shouted out "FIGHT, FIGHT!" They had to have heard me, I'm only a few feet away. I just know how Adam's always like "omg MIKE I'm so gonna FIGHT you" in interviews and stuff and I'z dyin to see it right before mine own eyes. It was fun, and MoMark jumps out with a roll of tape and draws a line for them to not cross so the show can continue. Ah, good times, good times. :D...

Yeah. Watching the Sasquatch videos, he sounds almost identical to how he sounded during the Ill Communication tour.

He always sounds good on stage, but to be honest I was never with him 100% on the sing-song sort of delivery he's been doing live for the last couple years. I'd hear old live recordings where he's got this crazy aggressive sort of energy and wish I was old enough to care at the time.
