How ya like your loaf?....I'm big on Nan and Pitta as of late.....I LOVE Nan....and the cook here has been making Bannock and fry bread for uds on Friday's.....so very nice with raspberry jam…..people who don't eat bread bother me,especially skinny people......breaking bread is a big deal for me,a ritual since I was a kid....

Naan and foccacia are good stuff.

For regular old sandwich bread, I'll have rye, please.

When I was a pizza delivery man, I had some of the finest nan and chapati (roti) in the world. I only had basmati rice maybe once a month with my curry 'cause I couldn't stand the thought of missing out on that awesome bread... Nowadays I'm quite fond of these wholemeal buns with baked plums in them. They taste a bit sweet but still awesome with more spicy spreads and cheese.

Paupadum is great too....from elementary to high school grad my best friend was this Sikh cat and his mom would stand in the kitchen making roti as quick as we could eat it,everyday......but Nan,man, dipping it into the butter chicken sauce.......ohhhh yeah.......(y) (y) (y)

I love the foccacia, served hot in triangular wedges, and then you dip them in a shallow plate of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.....yes,yes.....(y)

It's really easy to make. I used to make them for sandwiches for people at church, and I'd make turkey sausage for the meat. Good shtuff.

Bread is man's best invention. And like beer, the best comes from Germany. OK, we don't have anything else except the autobahn going for us. But seriously, Germany is bread champion, we have all sorts of wholemeal bread with shit like carrots, potatos or beer in it! (y)

I really like Ciabatta -would that come under the Italian Crusty option?

Pitta comes a close second.

Pfft. You guys have some great music and film to your credit, and more.

Anyway -- I think I read that they're considering putting a speed limit on the 'bahn?

I used to hike with this German guy who would only bring a loaf of sourdough a chunk of sausage,a wedge of emmentaler and a knife....all he needed was the lederhosen...he did have the funky hat with a feather in it though.....but I think the best bread makers are the French or the Belgians.....a run for your beer making nation ascertation:

True that, nutso politicians. It's a ruse to keep big ass cars like the Porsche Cayenne low on taxes ("Reasoning": they're MEANT to be used to tug trailers!)
German films suck since the 50's, 95% the filmmakers, actors and screenwriters take themselves far too seriously, it often makes me cringe... Not a hint of any irony...

I vote SOURDOUGH, hearty soft interior, crispy crust, hmm!

Yeah but, dead men don't make movies.....I did forget about “Wheel of Time” though.....(y) …and appreciate that Herzog left out the audio of "Grizzly Man" being eaten by the bear....;)

Herzog's fiction-film version of Little Dieter Needs to Fly comes out this autumn. Christian Bale, Steve Zahn, Werner Herzog, nightmarish POW conditions? I'm there.

This is a prime example of what I was talkin' 'bout. German filmmakers says:"We're gonna make a film about Hitler and be all serious about it and show everyone how we can work out our difficult past". Not to knock Bruno Ganz, he's one of the better actors, but I had to switch channels after 45 minutes 'cause I was thinking: "I shouldn't constantly be laughing about this." They are just trying too hard...
Back to bread, now!

O.K....remember in "Das Boot" when they land in Spain for supplies and they have that big spread with fresh figs and strudel?......man that strudel looked good!...although I guess it's a pastry not a bread,eh.....

i really can't stand foccacia bread for sandwiches. maybe i've just never had good stuff, but it's WAY too hard for sandwiches, it always cuts up the roof of my mouth. it's very unwieldy, it is not a sandwich bread.

I had a white sesame bread with baked in pepperoni yesterday. With olive oil, pepper and salt, good and simple.
