Today, I was driving home and listening to the The Mix Up, trying to freestyle some lyrics in my head over the tracks. After a while, I put in J Dilla's Donuts for a changeup. Instead of a bboys collabo, I came up with some lyrics over his track "Geek Down." I'm posting it here because:
1) I reference some bboy shit in the track
2) People here will listen to it and give good feedback
3) I was inspired by all the rhyming over TMU
4) There's a special shout out to "my man" at the end of the track
Lemme know what you think. It's short. I freestyled the first 6 lines in the car and remembered 'em til I got home and wrote them down. I wrote the rest in about 30 minutes and recorded it quickly. It took me much longer to figure out how to host the damn thing than to make it. Anyway, have a listen.

I'm still gonna do some shit over TMU and it will probably be a much different style than this, but it was kinda fun. Great fuckin' beat.

hahaha that's fucking nice.
Funnily enough I've freestyled over this beat many times, but I have no way of recording it. I have an ill song structure made out of the 'Two can win' beat, too.
Good work. That beat heavily samples the Charilie's Theme song I've been carrying on about recently. Good shit, I'm impressed. Except for the lines about your knob. Too far.

Donuts is pretty good. Do you think the Mix Up can compete?
Electric Worm is the one to rhyme over, man.

The Donuts album is sweet to freestyle over. Everytime I hear the "Geek Down" beat, I always mentally think of The Biz vs. Groove Holmes, "MCA, rock rock on..." It felt right at the time.:p
"Two Can Win" is nice. Wish I could hear what you have over that. Get a cheap ass mic. Mine's $10 from radio shack. Then I use a free program called Audacity to record. You can import the instrumental of your choice and layer as many tracks as you want on it. I've even done some guitar shit through the comp mic using it. Not bad for free.

They're not in the same arena of competition. Donuts is the champion of hip hop beats. The Mix Up is not hip hop, but you can still flow on it a bit. I agree about Electric Worm. Maybe I'll work on that next.

Believe me, when I saw you were the first to respond to this thread, I was like, "Great, I'ma get slammed by KP before anyone else even gets to hear it.":o
Proves it's all about beat selection.

haha the irony is nobody would take my opinion seriously either ways.
Thanks for the tip off about the audio softwarez. I got exams at the minute (which is why I've been on all day lol).
