I rock to Thin Lizzy. Definitely Phil Lynott era. His voice, his bass playing skills and damn it so sucks about his passing.

Their music had the best guitar solos, duels at that. The solos sounded as anthems.

It was music that you could whistle tunes if a song got stuck in your head while you're at work or just walking. Not too many bands can make that same kind of music nowadays.

Of course I just wrote this after listening to "The boys are back in town". I'm so chipper feeling that I'm gonna rock out Jailbreak. Full volume, beer in hand, smile on face.

I'd never ever call their music cock rock. In my own terms of classifying, I may want to call it summertime or sunshine music. It's the extra humph I listen to for spring cleaning or just to feel happy to. Even at night when at a drunken stuper with friends, we crank them out and have a happy singalong.

Henry Rollins is obsessed with them....I don't get it....at all.....maybe if you dug in their catalogue....but the FM radio hits are corny,simple and standard.....cool that they were composed of Orangemen and Catholics though...especially in that era,I'd never have even known they were Irishmen unless I read Rollins rant....
