you make it sound like being older has some debillitating effect on your musical talent. i on the other hand think older, more skill, more wisdom leads to better music.

A lot of great musicians had a spark when they were really young that they were never able to recapture. Beastie Boys aren't three of them though.

i feel much of this can be directly related to how they change up their sound. when you're new to a style, you have such a raw fascination and drive to do it. whenever the boys approach a new record, they're re-ignited with a brand new spark and flow of creativity because their always toying with something new they haven't tried yet, wherein most acts exhaust their original sound and then just run it into the ground.
