...just started playing locally (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0851578/). Probably see it this weekend.

Anyway, if you're interested: I've (http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony/paprika/) got two promo postcards. Let me know if you want one, and I'll send it to you. First two (if any) to ask get 'em.

Well, for what it's worth -- I got to see Paprika (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/paprika/) this weekend. Kind of mind-bending, and parts were definitely creepy.

Basically, it's about this project to enter into other people's dreams, and how that gets mis-used for evil's own ends, etc. I don't see a lot of animation, but this was really really nicely done. It folded "real" footage in with animated footage in a clever way, kind of doubling the is-it-a-dream? sort of perception that goes on much of the time.

There's also a recurring parade that is way more creepy than frogs with drums have any right to be. Brrrr.

I need to see it again, because I know i didn't get it all. Some of the dialogue was too expository ("Here's what's happening in the plot NOW!!!" someone shouts breathlessly), and I don't know if that was a transaltion for Engrish ears or if that was the actual dialogue. Could've been literal because, as I said, there were parts where I wasn't sure exactly where my footing was.

Dream-reality and real-reality do a HELL of a lot of shifting here. David Lynch would probably be wetting his pants in undoubtedly inappropriate ways.

For now, I'd say it's a B+. That could probably go up or down a bit, depending on what a second viewing tells me. Definitely one of the best movies I've seen sor far this year, though.

See it if it comes around. If it's within an hour of you, it's probably worth the drive to see it on the big screen.
