View Full Version : If your city only got one show

Which style of show would they do? Which would you prefer?

I'm assuming they want the single-stop shows to be Gala events, so they can play the instruments/new material. Personally I'd like to hear that. Maybe with MMM being wheeled out of his box for a couple of songs (maybe a few, who can say?).

But yeah, that would sweep across all the genres, plus these playing shows seem to be the best in a long time. I have that sasquatch Wookie boot, and it's up there with Randy's Rodeo (not in sound quality, sadly). Some songs need MMM (sureshot was a novelty without him, but I could get sick of it).

Otherwise, there seems to be a problem striking a balance that audiences are cool with. I guess (and hope) the "hits" show is just for festival crowds. If there was a need to force a hits style show out, they could always do two shows within the one stop, a 40 minute hip hop set, MMM interlude, Gala Event. Although that may shorten the Gala Event. I don't like the idea of that.

Thoughts?

I only say because IF Perth ever got a non-festival show (and that's a stretch I guess), it would certainly not get 2 shows. Although, you never can tell. I'd pay to go to 2 shows. If Sydney or Melbourne got 2 I'd head over (for real, this time).

i'd prefer the gala event for sure. i'd obviously see them both, but the gala is so much fresher and newer. alot of the old rap songs have been exhausted.

Gala Event I represent....

I really dont think MMM will have anything to do with the exclusive instrumental shows. We will see over the course of this tour...

Yeah, I love the hip-hop songs, but I'd just be nodding along. Check. Check. Check.

Doesn't Mike have his own album out? It would probably be win-win if he didn't tour with them because then he could support his own album.

I can gurantee you that MMM is involved in all the shows. Even the instrumental ones he is going to be scratching, layering samples in and joining in on percussion...

I'd prefer the show where Mike does juggling, Yauch on trapese, and Adrock doing stand-up comedy.

I know he was ill during the run at Sasquatch, but he was nowhere to be found on stage during the Gala Event show on Saturday...

and I'm not sure if he made an appearance at the Croc show

I got my info from the horses mouths...

Actually, it could be bollocks then.

Seeing as they missed us on the Pageant Tour, I certainly hope we get one this time 'round...

A 100% hip hop set...if I had it my way. I'll be there bright and early on the 26th to buy my copy of TMU because the Beasties are my favorite musical act, and always will be. But I'm a fan of their hip hop first and foremost.

MMM was not at the Croc show...he was "not feeling well", even though his turntables were all set up on stage...he was also not on the Wookie stage.

I'd definitely prefer the smaller Gala Event show.

both please! (realizes that I'm spoiled because I've already seen both -Sassquatch- and will get both again in nyF'c, ahmahgad, I'm starting to go into fits of epiletic joy! Sorry)
As for this bizare Sophies choice I'm being forced to make- I'd prefer a gala show, of course! It's the new shit, it's where my favorite band is at RIGHT NOW, why the hell wouldn't I want to be there to witness that? Plus I admit it, I'm WAY into the weird stuff, and yes, I like to get weird together with the boys.

They probably won't play Norfolk or Va Beach, but I'd prefer a gala show since I've seen the Pageant and CYH tours...so something different is in order....but this area hasn't had a beastie appearance in 15 years so the local fans are starving for a straight up regular show (bring the hardcore!!) !!

I still don't understand what they're going to do at the non-festival, non-gala shows. And I can't tell you how much I hate the term "gala" show.

If they came to my town, I wouldn't care what they play, but I'd like to pick the venue and audience.

Agreed. I'd rather just have a gala event show at like a place the symphony usually plays or something cool like that. Just to fuck with people.
