I am not endorsing the sale of bootlegs or any of that stuff..But is there a site that at least has a list of all the bootlegs along with listings on sound quality (soundboards, audience recordings, etc)

And is there some sites where there are live shows available for FREE download

Klepto,

I respect you a lot, and read every post you submit. I think though that maybe it was not very responsible to post those links. As a visitor to both of those sites, I myself would not do that. I believe it is fair to share everything on the web, but it may be better for everyone involved if you asked whether or not the sponsors of the sites approved of your posting the links in the context of this thread. Please don't take this as criticism, just some food for thought.

i believe each one of these groups/individuals created the sites in the first place to share with other beastie boys' fans. ;)

I kinda agree with BFL.

Is this guy a true fan. 1st post is asking all about bootlegs. It sounds like he/she has something else in mind rather than being a "fan"

I have only this to fall back on if someone really wants to pick on me for hosting the shows.

This thread (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=18426&highlight=bootleg) where tpk says taping as of right now is "cool" etc. and Beastieboys.com says he's going to work with management to maybe do taper passes for shows.

This Thread (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=24800&highlight=bootleg) continues the talk of "bootlegger passes"
tpk says:
"bootleg passes will never go through though. but we were mainly talking about a section on the site for sharing material and such right?"

Minton Replies:
"Right. We might add a section for live recordings and the such. Maybe."

This thread (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=21138&highlight=hub) about the HUB was "sticky" for a LOOOOOOONG time, I think it's now been un-sticky'd since the re-launch of the forums/site

The HUB..
"We have tons of live shows, rare tracks, remixes, videos, interviews, and anything else you can think of. You are asked to share what you have EXCEPT STUDIO ALBUMS AND B-SIDES. It is not the place to go to download a copy of To The 5 Boros."

So I have lots of reasons to believe that somehow I'm OK hosting a few shows.

I do however have no problem whatsoever taking the live shows down if asked to do so because my site will always be about the remixes first and foremost.

But it sounds to me like the Beastie Boys are fine with sharing shows. (I may be wrong) I don't know.

thanks for bringing those back silence7...

those are interesting in that they show the evolution of the attitude of the band regarding taping/bootlegging.

those quotes by the admins and the band/record label could have eventually become the genesis for AIFST and the remix forum...

I have only this to fall back on if someone really wants to pick on me for hosting the shows.

In these times when there aren't a whole lot of people willing to stick their neck out to help someone, let alone someone on the net, it's nice to have someone looking out for you. So a thanks to you BFL!

Funny, this thread couldn't have come at a better time, I just opened up my mail to someone asking how to send me "Philly 08-20-1998" "Great Quality" :)

Take care guys!

yeah this is about bootlegs for fans to share or keep to themselves..not selling..most bands (including the Beasties) are cool with bootlegs as long as people dont sell them...

from a legal standpoint, every recording made public would need the performer's approval. the fact that a recording is shared instead of sold for a profit would just differ legally in the sense that there's a greater copyright infringement for the latter.

we're not making any official announcements on whether or not the band will allow any kind of taping of their performances today or in the future so i personally can't assure you of anything. past experience though should tell us all that the band has never showed any greater disapproval of this. what you make of it is up to you. you'll still most likely end up breaking the law unless you've gotten an official approval.

and as most people know, the taping policy would be mostly acknowledged from the venue of performance rather than from orders from the band as venues themselves have their own policies.
