definitely something different. it's like a culmination of all the ideas from all the past albums intertwined into one. i don't think i have ever heard an album like this before. the aggressiveness of the debut and songs for the deaf with the spaceyness of lullibies and craft of rated r with a hint of eagles of death metal.

I've tried with this band. I've seriously tried. I just don't get it. *shrug*

he doesn't push it as much. and he looks like a young bob dylan on the album cover.

It's a lot more interesting than the last album.

I still get the feeling that Homme could do with a writing partner to reel in or shape some of his ideas. I think Oliveri may have played that role and although I was confident at first that QOTSA would be fine without him, an influence such as his would be beneficial. like the last album, this one feels a lot like a Desert Sessions volume.

still, some nice moments. however so far nothing approaching the awesomeness of the first three records.
