Obsession with celebrities

I'm tired of seeing all the latest celebrity gossip on the front page of the paper. "Paris Hilton's 2nd cellmate's third cousin's dog hit in fatal accident!".

Can someone help me understand this obsession with shit like this? I wouldn't care so much if this stuff was kept in celebrity oriented websites or magazines, but it's everywhere now. From tech-oriented sites to political news shows to the used-to-be-good-mainstream media ((n))

I was watching a show tonight about a struggling independently fashion shop and they got someone in to help them tap better into the market. I found it pretty crazy to see people saying they wanted to be seen wearing the same dress, shoes as Victoria Beckham and other no name "wags" were seen wearing in this weeks magazines. I really found it hard to understand why.

I know this isnt really on the same topic as you, but at the same time it sort of is.....sort of.

I know it is not cool but I like celebrity gossip and fuck-ups. When I fly on a plane I always get a People or a Star magazine or both. I follow the lives of the famous. Personally, I believe that Paris and Britney don't have a thing on Robert Downey Jr. He slept in a kid's bed at a neighbors house.

I like to read about and see famouses, but I don't get obsessed with them. I just like the highlights. and I want to see the outfits. good and bad. just for fun.
