View Full Version : I got reprimanded by a biker...
There were 2 lanes in my direction. He was riding his bicycle in the right lane and was kinda looking wobbly. I got nervous that he was going to fall, so I changed lanes to go around him, then moved back into the right lane to make the right-hand turn. He pulled up along side me and said to roll down my window. He said, "I'm going to tell you the proper etiquette here. What you did just now sucked." He said a couple more things that I can no longer recall, but he was pissed.
Was it bad? I am trying to being objective here. Any bikers here that can lend an opinion?

Yeah, you should wait until the biker passes the turning before you turn. Otherwise, you're like totally cutting him up and he could go across your hood or something. Don't you get taught all this stuff when you take your driving test?!

Maybe you should've put your arm out the window and made a biker style turn signal.

you basically cut him off I guess. I dunno, if he was wobbling and taking up the whole lane, then that's stupid of him. it sucks when cars pull in front of you and slow down or stop though, because it takes more energy physically to stop and get going then it does for you in your car. if I'm going at a good clip and I have to slow down for some asshole car because they cut me off or decide to park without signalling, it's basically just annoying.

as an ex-hell's angel i can only suggest that what you did must have hurt him deep inside, but that you were also totally, one-hundred-and-twenty-per-cent in the right.

Once a biker spit on my car for something very similar to what you just described, kll. I didn't think it was very nice, but he apparently didn't think I was very nice. Oh well... it washed off.

In LA motorcycles can drive on the dashed white lines, yep right inbetween lanes of traffic. It's so freaky. I dunno any etiquette, but I just try to treat motorcycles like I would cars...
When I read this thread title I thought it was bicycle related... cuz I was reprimanded by some old fart on a bicycle once. I was in a left turn lane, one of those that literally has it's own road and a boulevard between the left turn lane and the rest of the road, so clearly you're turning left if you're down this lane. Well, I didn't have my blinker on and this old dude on a bicycle was hell bent on telling me how I should have my turn signal on. I turned to him and replied, "so do you charm all the ladies this way?" heehee

or else maybe getting around on a bike is beneficial to your health and the environment?
