I keep reading about a dashi soup base
has anyone tried making it before?
Im thinking I should just make a miso based broth and add veggies and fatty noodles instead
ja? no?

have you tried making it yet, Heirres? It really isn't too difficult or time consuming. The only problem is the ingredients. Unless you're going to be eating a lot of it, going out and buying everything might be a bit of a waste.

I rehydrated some shitake mushrooms, used the water from that to start a broth, to which I added alot more water, then I just added a couple of heaping spoonfuls of miso paste to up the taste factor
and to this I added the mushrooms, bok choy, sea asparagus, green onion, bean sprouts, carrot slices, and some cubed medium tofu.
I also ripped apart some sheets of dried seaweed and threw those in there
and then kept adding soy sauce until it tasted perfect
finally I boiled up some fresh udon noodles and bowled it all up
it.
was.
excellent.
though I made it while in vancouver so it was extremely easy and stupid cheap buying all the ingredients since my friend/boy lives one block up from china town.
