I'm probably way more excited about this movie than I should be. The first Fantastic Four movie, I didn't hate it like most people, but it was kinda "meh." Truth be told, I don't really even like the Fantastic Four characters, but Silver Surfer + Galactus, I can't miss this movie. And I generally love the Marvel movies...

So has anyone seen it yet? Without giving anything away, how was it? How did Galactus look? And did the ending seem to hint at a Silver Surfer spin-off movie?

On a side note, Galactus Devouerer of Wolds = Best name for a great dane ever

I heard Galactus is nothing but a cloud... (n)
Silver Surfer is a bit meh IMO. I woulda loved Adam Warlock, Black Panther joining the F4 vs Mole Man, Doom, Annihilius, Blastaar and Paste Pot Pet!

Yes. It was pretty meh. See below. Yep. Apparently there's a short scene after the credits which hints even more so at a spin-off.

Now I don't know much about the comic but, yes, he is a cloud. However after reading some posts on imdb they apparently put in little bits that are reminiscent of him. Like a shadow in one scene apparently is a shadow of him. And there's also a burning thing that's meant to represent his helmet inside the cloud...or something.

This what Galactus should look like. Except you can't see his giant G belt buckle which is his way of telling you he's a G.

What was D.C's answer to philosopher as a super hero character?

Red Tornado?...or maybe Martian Manhunter or the Guardians....?

eh, it was so-so. nothing great, but i went in with low expectations, so i wasn't disappointed. the silver cgi was better than i'd hoped, i was expecting unbearably bad. one thing though... what the fuck was with galactus? i thought you meant that, like, he still looked like him but as a cloudy mysterious figure in the sky type thing, not that he was actually a cloud of cosmic dust. they turned him into an it. this makes me sad. but i guess galactus as he is supposed to be would be hard to depict in a live action movie and not have it look SUPER cheesy. if im not mistaken, galactus isnt actually that big, i mean he's big but not like, big enough to fit planets in his mouth, and he uses the power cosmic to shrink them down or something. yeah, that would look pretty gay. still it makes me sad :(

I haven't seen either movie, so take this with a grain of salt:

I think the way to have depicted Galactus would be like this:

Give him a spaceship. Yeah, that probably flies in the face of his character, but bear with me.

Give him a spaceship, and have the Surfer and Galactus communicate back and forth through the film a few times to sort of establish their relationship. Make sure you get a good shot of the ship so the audience knows what it looks like.

When the time comes, the screen shows the SHIP approaching Earth, ridiculously dwarfing it, fucking with its gravitation, blah blah blah. But the main thing is that now you infer how huge Galactus is because of the ship, rather than because you've got this Jupiter-sized action figure hanging out licking the ozone layer like frosting.

I dunno. Probably still wouldn't work, but if you're going to muck about with the character, that might be a better way to handle things, visually.
