i don't turn around when people say my name anymore [Archive]

they have to say it twice before i do. i get so many false alarms, because there are so many stupid words that kind of sound like "bob" but are in fact other words. for example "mom", "tom", "job", "AH!", any short word with an "ah" sound in it basically. so 9 times out of 10 i hear what sounds like somebody calling my name and i turn around thinking "oh boy somebody wants to be my friend" but instead they're talking to somebody else and they give me that "turn around, loser" look. then they rob me

so i don't turn around when i think i hear my name any more, because it's usually not what i think it is. but i bet there have been occasions where someone actually WAS trying to get my attention, and i ignored them. how lame would that be? pretty lame, that's how lame that would be

That happened to me in geometry class. I'd be starting to fall asleep and I'd hear "diameter" and I'd snap to attention. The way he said it, the first part sounded a lot like my name. Once he got to the "ter" part, I was like "Oh. Whatever."

Anyways, that's the reason why some of my friends call me "Diama" now.
