She's 58 today, so what the hell.

This is one of the rare actors that a "best Streep performance" poll would be almost worthless. First -- yeah, try narrowing it to nine-plus-"other." Second -- good luck with that consensus or anything like it.

Meryl's top shelf and also comes off as a class act in interviews an other people's anecdotes. I don't know of any other actor who has been so consistently good in such a range of roles for so long.

She's never been a favorite of mine because I don't like straight dramas, but she's as solid as can be. Even her bad movies are usually worth seeing. And she's a good sport. Remember her in Stuck On You?
