Most of the negative reviews for TT5B included something about how the lyrics were tired or embarrassing, or how they talked too much about political issues. So I'm wondering if they didn't take those too seriously and lost confidence in their lyric writing skills, so they put out an album without lyrics.

Just an idea.

I'm sorry, but that idea's just laughable.

That's quite likely as political issues distract from the more important lyrics about thug life, booty and love, blegh!

from the sasquatch press conference... (http://www.seattleweekly.com/music/blogs/reverb/2007/05/sasquatch_beastie_boys_talk_po.php)

Can you bring politics to an instrumental record?
Horovitz: "..in a way, it's a shitty time to not have words because we're still in the same predicament that we've been in the past few years, in America and just in the world."

they're not embarrassed to make lyrics, they WANT to make lyrics 'cause they got somethin' to say!

beastie boys have skills on the mic as well as on their instruments, what's there to be embarrassed about? what critics say? yeah right, they're still gonna make the music they wanna make. :D

No. No. No!!!

The Beasties are doing what they always do, what they want. Yeah, that's kinda overstated, but if people think a few reviews are gonna shape up the Beasties moves then they don't know the band. Besides, I think it was only a couple which said that... there were many prasing the usual randomness of the lyrics, which i thought were pretty solid all the way.

As it the Mix Up, incidentally.

um you're retarded.

is there something wrong with making an instrumental album? I think it was well within thier right to do so. pretty sure embarasment had nothing to do with it.

They're doing a vocal album next - and it won't be a lengthy wait.

No need to be such a hostel bitch. I was just asking if it was a possibility.

Interesting idea, and I won't bash you for posting it. I disagree however. I think they wanted to try something different. Their mood changes every couple years.

After '89, they played their instruments again. '95 they started playing hardcore more. '98 Adrock took over the beats. '04 they rapped exclusively with very little playing. Now they switched it up again. I don't blame them. It would get tiring doing the same exact style over again. I personally wouldn't want something that follows exactly in the same mold of TT5B.

What's left really? I guess rapping on an album with another producer supplying the beats? (Unlikely). Maybe releasing an album of their older songs re-worked with live instruments? Who knows. That's what makes them exciting and fresh.

haaa. you haven't even seen bitchy from me young man. sorry, I just think this is a silly question to ask about any group of professional musicians. think about it.

I suppose I could have been a little nicer about though. sorry to harsh on you gig, crusty.

PS: hostel is an inexpensive place to board...or a horror flick where young people get murdered in an inexpensive boarding house. Hostile is when someone is being mean. FYI
