...seriously. Microwaves are so fucking handy, and there are only a few foods that they actually will botch. Do it right, and a microwave can be a great friend.

Reheating roasted potatoes and fries doesn't work.

As a supporter of the slow food movement I have long ago implemented a boycott, don't own one.....therefore,I often lament that fact after a late night at the pub, trying to broil leftovers in the frigging oven.....(n)

I hate microwave ovens. The food is really hot for a few seconds, but gets cold really quickly. And tastes horrible.

Anyone who can't cook with a microwave hasn't discovered the "cook control" or "power" settings....
A microwave defaults at full-bore pow.....do you crank your regular oven every time?? No...you change the power setting depending on what your cooking....
Yum.

Except for melting cheese on sandwiches and building time-machines, I don't see the use.

Consider also how much energy they save.
Let's say I want an ear of corn, cooked.
Do I get a big ol' pan filled with half a gallon of water, turn on the burner and wait fifteen minutes for the water to boil, then however long for the corn to cook?
Do I stoke a grill, wait for the coals to coke just right, then throw on the corn and wait for that?
Or do I pop a cob in the micro-oven for about four minutes and DING it's done?

i pretty much only use it for reheating. i once ordered a vegan microwave cookbook, but when i read the recipes it all sounded so gross. i don't think i've used a single one from there. microwaved veggies = grody. just use a little steamer basket. i don't know, i think i appreciate the food more when i've spent time and (my own) energy preparing it. mmm, i'm going to go grill up some asparagus right now.

I never got into the whole thing, so I didn't know how they were powered.
I would've guessed solar, though, if you put a gun to my head. Just goes to show.

lately im throwing everything into the microwave, even the non friendly microwaved foods
it's warm and eatable and it still didnt kill me nor the foods nor the microwave so why not
Don't have one, don't want one, don't need one, don't have room for one.

The one thing I don't like is that microwaved food cools down too quickly.

I always microwave scrambled eggs. No laborious stirring, aside from a quick fluff with a fork. And the bowl is SO much easier to clean. Scrambled egg stuck to the bottom of a pan is a pain in the buttcheeks.
I did have a nasty incident with soup once though in a microwave. Soup has a tendancy to get hot spots (hot being an understatement here) and when i took the bowl out of the microwave and gave it a stir a hot spot bubbled and splashed scalding hot soup onto my hand and arm. Ouchies.
