Non UK peeps may not be aware but large parts of the UK are now submerged (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6239828.stm)thanks to torrential rain causing rivers and reservoirs to burst their banks. Three people have died in my area.
Many parts of the town where i live have been hit hard but thankfully my village has been ok.
My dad took these photographs today, near where he works.

...I bet the rates are more reasonable now. :(
Dang. That reminds me of flooding when I was a little kid. And we'd pull out a canoe and paddle down the city street...
Anyway, yeah, that sucks. Floods are maybe the worst, because of all the disease they can leave. I hope things work out okay and you folks don't have American insurance.

I hope everything turns out ok and your village stays safe.

Thanks. We should be ok - we are not that near to any of the rivers that have burst their banks. I am so thankful though, the thought of having to cope with a one year old child in one of the 'rest centres' along with another few hundred evacuated people fills me with dread.

we had some minor flash flooding in chicago yesterday. it was pretty nutty. at my work the water was about and inch above the sidewalk and waves from the cars kept splashing up against the door. my boss had us close the store early. woo hoo! even though like 15 minutes later the water had drained. ha.

we have about a million and a half creeks and streams around here, so the low areas have at least one flood event every year. thankfully i've lived on the tops of the mountains so i dont have those problems.
good to see you're not in bad shape!
here is a shot from a normal yearly flood at the point, where the rivers meet. its submerged about 2 feet under water.
