View Full Version : How about Atlantic City?

I think Atlantic City would be a perfect spot to play a Gala Event.

It's in the neighborhood of Philly and NYC, and the whole "dress to impress" thing would go off well at one of the many luxurious casino-hotel venues. The Borgata maybe, Trump's Taj Mahal? There's dozens of funky old places that would be prefect for a gala event.

I'm on some straight "Frank Sinatra" type shit for this very special show,
Suit, Fedora, Shades, Cigars, and Dewars on the Rocks.

I'm gonna go ahead and request "Summer Wind" or "Luck be a Lady" right NOW.

I was just poking around the Borgata website and saw they have a 2400-seat event center, as well as a 1,000 seat performance theatre.

I'm guessing it's the bigger one, but if I was guaranteed tickets, I'd be hoping for the theatre.

I was in Atlantic City tonight to see LL Cool J - and he rocked the bells! Very good show. There's a huge billboard on the AC Expressway about 5 miles outside of the city advertising the B-Boys show. Also, there was a full-page ad for it in both of the newspapers!

Saw the beach boys there last sat (oh yeah), they were in the music box- the smaller venue. Tix were about $50 and they had vocals so maybe this show will be about half that?? ;)

Also, since the "philly" show is in AC which I think is sweet, how about having it on a weekend so everyone from Philly who doesn't have a shore house or has to work the next day can rock out all night and not have to drive over an hour home? I'll still be hungover from wed night at fest pier and wakin up for work early thurs! Guess I shouldn't bitch, we could be livin in south dakota or somethin...

Borgota's a nice spot, this might be worth getting out of the house for.

It is all seating, no G.A. It can be nice to have seating if you have a juicy ticket up close. No crowding or anything like that, just dance in your own little area.

I probably know the answer to this question before I ask it, but does anyone know if camera's will be allowed into this venue?

I'm talking about cameras into the concert, not the kind that you hide in the women's restroom. :D

It was the men's restroom and it wasn't hidden. It was "strategically placed."

I'm not putting anyone down for thinking $85 is a steep price to pay for a concert, but maybe we, as Beastie Boys fans have become spoiled by how great the Beasties have been at keeping their concerts affordable.

Consider:

Velvet Revolver - $125/$95
Roger Waters - $128
The Moody Blues - $75

Fucking Wayne Brady is $56. Seriously people, even $85 still isn't all too bad.

I am totally considering going to this show!

For some reason I can picture some of us chilling at the hotel indoor pool/hot tub, sipping on martini's and sharing sex stories.

OMGz lol'ing all over the place...

I can't imagine you getting off any useable shots given the crush up front. The only footage I saw on youtube was from the seats.

I'm sure that Pooty could pull something off in Atlantic City. If he got caught, I'm sure he would talk his way out of it. :p

I'll be smuggling something in alright, but it's not going to be any camera.

if someone has cameltoe flaps large enough to conceal a cam, then sneaking photos is the least of their worries

Look @ the Joe Walsh seating chart.
I think that is the correct seating for the Beastie Boys show.
The 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 sections are removed and that is the standing section.

Snagged two tix this morning. I'm very excited to be going to a Gala Event. I'm planning on seeing this and then the Virgin Festival in Baltimore on the weekend. It just didn't seem like they'd be swinging by Dallas for this tour, plus I had to use some free Southwest tickets before December.

Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you guys. I'm an old head from the Beastielist days, but have remained fairly silent on this board.

I can't believe tickets are STILL available for this thing! I just requested and was able to buy two more GA tickets. They can't sell out Festival Pier, whatever. But this is 2,000 tickets and 24 hours later they are still available?

The other gala events sold out in minutes. What's with this area's fan base????

Maybe it's the fact that it's $95 a ticket and advertised as "Instrumental Only"
Maybe it's the fact that it's the middle of summer and lots of people are out doing other things, like the beach or the mountains.
Maybe it's the fact that blocks of tickets weren't gobbled up by scalpers for whatever reason.
Maybe it's the fact that the only radio play the Beasties get around here are stations that play "No Sleep till Brooklyn" or "Fight for Your Right".
Maybe it's the fact that the Beasties aren't using one of the local radio stations to promote these shows.
Maybe it's the whole "Mumia" controversy.

Who knows, but better yet who cares. The less people the better, right?
It will sell out, and hopefully it all means that somehow REAL fans got the tickets and not just a bunch of leeches looking to profit off scalping.

at first i wanted to get the lower tier seating tix but right when they went on sale they were all gone, prolly being held by the casino to give to people gambling or something, but standing room is fine with me, im going to 2 gala events, one in ac and the other in nyc and i cant wait!

Casinos comp stuff to their high rollers. People who are gambling at higher stakes and throwing a lot of cash around. 99% of the people in this demographic would look at a casino host and laugh or maybe leave if he said, "I've got you guys two tickets to a Beastie Boys concert tonight."
