i think its related to a jump in blood pressure, but im not sure. ive heard of people describe... umm... i forget the phrase for it... weird stomach feelings when something bad happens, and i get that too, but i never hear anyone say "i got a phone call and they said charlie was in an accident and my ears started ringing like mad"

only when i hear it from loud, hysterical people.

I looked into it, and its actuall from low blood pressure. Apparently if something stressful/scary happens and your ears start ringing, you're very near fainting.

Hopefully this isn't something that gets worse with age, or else in a few years, whenever I hear something shocking I'll have to say "I declare!", fan myself, and then faint.
