A drag queen. I knew something was funny about him when we jammed. He was wearing t-shirt and jeans but he didn't look too manly.

The guy can sing though. Fuckin A, can he sing and he's got the voice that I've been lookin for. He's not gay or anything. It doesn't matter if her were, some of the best bands had flakes as singers.

I just checked his myspace cause I haven't yet and he's all in a dress, a wig laying on a couch.

Wow, this is something that is a little hard for me. I may search for a new band over this. I just wanted to be a bunch of dudes in t-shirts and jeans melting your face off without any gimmicks.

The guitarist has alot of connections though. Even connections for us to play in Prague in October.

Dammit, I don't know what to do.

Transvestites who play rock and roll have a good track record of making rocking music.

And a "bunch of dudes in t-shirts and jeans" sounds kind of dude-rockesque. No one likes dude-rock. Even a large majority of dudes dislike dude-rock.

a bunch of dudes i jean and tees with out a gimmick won't get you far. I'm sorry but that's NOT marketable. Music business promotions is a tough gig these days. I know because I was doing some freelance work for a promoter who represented some pretty big names in blues and country. now a days there has to be a gimmick...something that sets you apart form the other dudes in jeans and tees. it's not enough to have a different sound. your front man also has to be a sword swallower or something unusual like that.

Chicks love drag queens. run with it. I'm serious. don't get you hanes boxers in a twist cause this guy like to wear garter belts. if he's a great singer then let him be. androgny worked for Bowie, it can work for you too. trust me.;)

No question. So long as he makes it to practice.

Strange frontmen are key.

yeah. and besides, has he shown up to practice in a dress? is this something that he's discussed with the band, or is he just planning to surprise you all by showing up to a gig in drag some day? you said you saw it on his myspace; maybe this is something he just does on select occasions. maybe it was a halloween costume. maybe he did it on a dare. who cares

I'm sure he's a pro at it. Almost anorexic looking and really doesn't look like a guy at all.

He's cool as hell but I kind freaked a little when I saw his myspace. Honestly, I've never known any drag queens. Hell, if we get good enough, maybe I'll dress in drag, haha. I've done it in high school on halloween.

He's never discussed it with me, he has with the guitarist though and just yesterday he mentioned for me to check his myspace.

Yeah, I'm going with it. We're off to a good start and I can't be so picky cause the guy has some talent.

Yeah, sure. (myspace.com/cameron_nico) He kinda reminds me of that old hag from 101 dalmatians in this pic. I just hope I don't get so drunk after a gig that I wake up next to him.

Whew, girlfriend is fierce!

I say roll with it man, see how things go, you know? Challenge yourself to accept him as he is, mentally give yourself something like 3 months to "try it out" and at the end of that time, evaluate how you're feeling about it, how he's fitting in with the band, how the band is sounding, etc. Yeah there might be some awkwardness at first but I think if you are honest with him and say "Listen man, I'm a little bit weirded out by this now but I'm gonna honestly try to just get on with things and we'll see what happens, OK?" that that's probably all he really wants. He obviously knows it's an unusual situation and he told you to check his myspace for a reason; he wants to see if you're going to be able to be cool with this or not, and I'm sure he realises the answer might well be "not". As you say though if he's a good singer and it works out, you never know, even though it might not be the 'dudes in T shirts' band you had envisioned, it might be even better. Give it an honest try though.

Great advice from you. Yeah, for sure. Some people and at that, alot of people could disagree with me being a former soldier, especially at these times. Also being that I've taken it to a new level and being a civilian over there during the crap that's going on. But, you all know that I'm probably the most loving and thrown off person on this board.

So far, in this band, they've got me who's former military, the guitarist who's a solid skater at the age of 39 and a drag queen. You want bland then don't check this band, I suppose. We're still looking for a drummer and hopefully when we find one, he's not going to be ordinary.

Dudes in ts is what I've envisioned but I believe that's just me being selfish because there's more positive thinking from you all here making me realize of my selfishness over some music and appeal that "I want" rather than something that can really rock with all aspects combined. We'll still melt your face off and with the front man/lady involved will make for the discussion.

Our main guitarist is fucking sweet as well. Way better than me being that I've only played guitar for 2 years but, 15 years on bass. This guy rips. Just plain gets down and not too much distortion. I'd like to describe his styles but, you won't get that till we drop the whole c.d. The guy knows "Jane" from Jane Says, if you know what I mean.

We're jamming 2nite. I'm going to record it and if you're lucky, you can hear a little bit of Strand Test.

Yep, now I'm really stuck in a hard place. Some guy just responded to my ad. They've got everyone from drummer to singer. I've had a few email conversations with him and he's looking to jam the same exact music that I'm looking to jam. Also he lives in the same city as me, not in the shit part like I do, but it's not as much as a trek for me to get there.

Here's his myspace (http://www.myspace.com/nitch). Although the music he has in mind now is just a tad different than that, he still wants to keep on the same track and I could totally get into playing guitar like that. It's pretty much exactly how I play.

Drag queens are nothing to fear....an ex-roommate of my was a one and he was dirty, left dishes with food out for days, late on paying bills and a total flake....wait a minute! That dude sucked! You may want to ditch this band

ayeah. I'm ditching it. For sure. The guy/girl has missed two practices now and the band is too damn young to miss out on anything.

Also, I've spent alot of sleepless hours writing some lyrics, only for them to be read and put on the backburner. Nah man, shit doesn't fly like that with me.

I'm sending an official "I quit" email for the drag queen shit and I'll be jamming with the other band next week. And no, it's not ts and jeans. It's just a casual dress band. I was just using ts and jeans as an example of being some guys with guitars and not being too far fetched. We'll wear polos occasionally.
