my cousin was killed last night in a drive-by

so today after going to the mall with my bigger brother we get home and our mom tells us that our cousin, carlos, is dead. he was shot to death last night by black gang members in a drive-by, my cousin and most of his friends our latino. the sad thing is my cousin never had a chance, he uses crutches to walk because only one leg functions, so he couldn't have gotten away from the bullets. out of all the friends that was there last night carlos was the only one dead, another got shot in the leg. his girlfriend was there and she's traumatized from what i hear, my aunt is too, she's asking for donations to pay for his funeral since she can't afford to. me and my brother were in shock, i just saw him like a month ago. he was released from jail a month ago and it looked like he was doing good. :(

i'm don't know for sure but
he probally was, he was in and out of jail a bunch of times and had tatoos all over him even on his face. but he was good people always nice to me and the family.

i haven't cried at all, i got a little teary eyed and all day i kept thinking about him and i just try to think about something else but i can't.

Well it doesn't happen as often for sure, but it happens - on Tuesday evening a 14 year old boy was stabbed and died at the end of my street. Apparently the 16 year old that knifed him did it because he didn't like the way that kid and his friends looked at him and his friends. So for the past 3 days when I leave my house with the baby to go to the shops, I wheel past the little memorial shrine that has assembled at the corner and see the flowers, the candles, the footballs, the school caps, etc that people have been leaving. It is too sad. That poor little boy. His poor parents. I cannot understand it, there was not even an altercation apparently; two groups of kids passed in the street, one kid decided he didn't like the looks of the other and killed him. WTF is that?

I am so sorry, ggirl. I know your cousin perhaps wasn't an 'innocent kid' like this boy in my neighbourhood, but he was someone's son, someone's friend, someone's brother, someone's cousin, and it isn't right.
