Some review on the mix-up mentioned something like, "the beasties should be paying attention to modern funkateers (that are in turn supposedly influenced by the beastie's funky jams) such as Hot Chip, etc., ect., ect., to maintain a forefront status on where contemporary funk-pop music is going." not exactly in those words.
anywho, i love funk music, and like to keep somewhat up to date with what's going on in contemporary music. so for my traditional, wild-card, random cd purchase for the month (a cd by someone ive never heard before, based on even the slightest evidence that i may dig it), i picked up a Hot Chip album.
this is the least funky album ive ever heard in my life, not to mention completely retarded in general. i guess there are a couple melodies and harmonies that are exceptional, but overall the music and lyrics are complete crap. this is the type of shit that keeps me from checking out new popular music for months at a time. blechhh.......(n)(n)
one could say i didn't like it because it wasn't what i was expecting, but i consider myself particularly open minded to all types of shit. i gave it a chance. then i threw it out.
