Outkast - Idlewild

When it came out, it blew me away. I really dug it. But I think the feeling of having new 'Kast material blinded me a bit, and when that wore off, I was left with an album made up of a few amazing tracks, but more mediocre ones. And much like Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (while both excellent, and light years ahead of Idlewild) it still didn't feel like a 'Kast album.

They're working on The Hard 10, let's hope it's a return to form.

haven't they been "working" on The Hard 10 since, like, 2004?

but I totally agree with you about Idlewild.

Yeah, they've been plugging away on 10 for a while now. It's called "the hardest shit they've done in years".

We'll see.

The Mix-Up and Beatles for Sale or two off the top of my head.

It's not like I was around for it's original release but compared to the other original material Beatles albums it's not that good.

How is The Mix Up disappointing? You can be disappointed that it's an instrumental album, that's fine. Knowing it was going to be instrumental, I can't see how you can be disappointed in it? What did you expect?

I was in no way dissapointed it was instrumental but I just CANNOT get into it and believe me, I tried.

It all seems so mellow and there's nothing going one from one fun instrument effect here and there.

It just seems so tame, I wondered why they didn't experiment more, why all the songs featured similar instruments, so one and so forth.

Instrumental music, just like vocal music, can be good or bad to different people. Just because it's an instrumental album, and you know that going in, doesn't mean you automatically have to like it.

I myself loved it, but that doesn't mean everyone has to...

I'm disappointed because I don't like to listen to it? What don't you understand about that

I have no idea what you are on about. It doesn't matter if its instrumental, accapella, samples Navajo Indians or is just the sound of Mike D crying himself to sleep, I don't like to listen to it. Hence i'm disappointed.

It is possible for the beastie boys not to make amazing records all the time.

aaron has left for NIN, deguzman is now on bass, and they drafted in two very turned-down guitarists. the album slipped out quietly to say the least, didn't see an ad for it anywhere. it's stones-y in places, but i just want to hear mono.

He and his brother Johnny both suffer from albinism.

He is also a scientologist.

I wonder if he rocked out at Tomkat's wedding? Imagine "Here Come's The Bride" with a ten minute drum solo...

Fuckin' sweetnessssssssssssss!

bjork's Volta was kind of a let-down for me. to be honest i wasn't that jazzed about it anyway, but it was pretty "eh." still listenable, though.

Yeah, most of the people I know love it. I just can't get into it, I've tried numerous times, but it just doesn't work for me. Its something that I just don't get, and now, don't even want to.
