Ours does. A lot like it, actually.
But what else is out there? Cinco de Mayo? Canada day?
Also -- do the English do anything to sort of celebrate July 4th? -- that they don't have American accents, that their television programming is so vastly superior, etc.?
no we do sod all 4th July.
and we've always been free so no need to celebrate it :p

Yeah, you serfs have always been free. Monty Python addressed that in Holy Grail. :)

i'm partial to celebrating the bastille on july 14th due to small children being allowed to throw small fireworks at eachother, the simulated storming of prisons, giant dramatic displays of light and sound in port towns such as marseille, etc.

When is Canada day? God help me, I love Canada. I love Vancouver, its easily one of my favorite cities in the world. And Victoria. Well, I guess I should say I love B.C. I haven't been to any other parts of Canada.
The Rheostatics is a pretty cool band, too.

Canada Day is July 1st and is always a good time. Last year I was on Parliament Hill for the fireworks display and it was fucking awesome! This year I had to work but we all went out on the street to watch the fireworks anyway.
In conclusion, fireworks are fun.
Jim wont fix it

Its the 6th of June.

p.s. Cinco de Mayo is a sham. It's just the battle of Puebla (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinco_de_mayo).
Mexican Independence Day is actually on September 16th.

Ah. So it's sort of Mexico's version of Groundhog Day.

4th of July is my moms birthday.
We have German Reunion day on Oct 3rd, not a cause for celebration in my opinion. I've never seen any west germans that view this as a happy event though.

Yeah we have our Independence Day too but I dont know the exactly date. Im not that patriotic as you can see. But nobody cares too. The only good thing about it is because we dont have to work.

we have Waitangi Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waitangi_Day) which celebrates getting the Maori to hand over all their land by making them sign a dodgy treaty....which we then ignored as we colonized the shit out of the place.
by 'we', I mean white honkeys, who I have no relation to.

In Sweden there's the National Day (http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sveriges_nationaldag) (June 6th). It wasn't created until 1983 as the day was already the Swedish Flag's day (whatever that is!). It was made a national holiday 2005.
Finland has her Independence Day (http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suomen_itsen%C3%A4isyysp%C3%A4iv%C3%A4) on December 6th.
That's when we finally got rid of the Russian ruling, in 1917. So this year Finland will be 90 years (http://www.sauna.org/eggnog/images/1206-thumb.jpg)!

St. Patricks Day FTW!
Also, Easter Sunday is when we celebrate our independence because a failed rebellion kick started on Easter Sunday. There's a parade, but not much else. Its a bit odd, because the actual uprising that lead to the War of Independence was a few years later, that actually got us our freedom. But its seen as the start of the resistance proper. Its not overly celebrated though, strange for a nation that hates the British... :p Suppose we're content with Paddy's day..

white new zealanders rule.
i hate how we have to play both versions of the national anthem at rugby games.
just do the maori one or the english one...i don't really care
they both sound crap and are both shameful...this was highlighted during the french series...their one is far superior.
sometimes waitangi day falls on superbowl day.
well...i'm not certain but i'm pretty sure i have spent my waitangi day watching superbowl before.

I'm sure spending Waitangi Day watching the Superbowl is some kind of metaphor for something. I'd figure out what, but I'm too busy playing Mario and eating this hot dog.
