i don't think i've ever had a haircut that i've liked

i have very thick, very straight hair. when it gets cut too short, it sticks out.

i made the mistake of getting a fade on the sides and back last time i got a haircut. so the top is a little long, but the sides and back are shaved short with a clipper. it ended up looking kind of ridiculous due to the aforementioned sticking out problem. but now i'm kind of stuck for a while, because my hair is disproportionately short on the sides and in the back. so now the top is too long, and i need a haircut, but i have to get scissor cuts because whenever anyone uses the clippers, it sticks out and i look stupid. but the sides and back aren't even long enough to cut with scissors. so i dunno what to do

On a related note, does anyone actually pay for a haircut? I may have had 2-3 Barbershop experiences ever...my mom always does mine. I remember after I moved out years ago that she wanted me to get it cut somewhere...but I rocked the Mexi-fro for so long that she eventually gave in. :D

i would look horrible with a shaved head, i'm sure of it. i've never done it but i can tell from feeling up my head that i've got a funny-shaped skull. i'd look very lumpy, there's no way i'm doing that

Same here. I wouldn't worry so much about the lumpy thing, but man, people's (well, most) scalp's are ghost white. That's gonna look frightening 'till it tans up after the shave.

oh without question that would be a problem for me. my everything is ghost white, i'd look horrible with a shaved head

yeah my hair is getting a little long for me. I also have not shaved for 5 days. i think I will have my hair cut next week and shave that same day. It will be crazy.

I pay for hair cuts. I used to get them for free from my sister. She moved to far away.

I avoid haircuts. I haven't had one in about a year. it's getting a bit much though, people on the street are handing me stratocasters and demanding to hear the solo from Eruption.
