I'd be interested knowing this also, if anyone has the scoop. I really hope it can go gold in the long run...

Yeah, but not when you consider every album since Ill Communication debuted at #1.

if you read the page the other instrumental debued at 45 sound in from way out. To say 15 is not a good debue is garbage in my opinion. For a hip hop group to cross over to another catagory and still debue at 15 is damn good in my opinion. You cant expect everyone to be in for it. And given the leak of the album and other things now days its very reasonable to assum it isnt going to be number one. They did it for the music not for the charts. If they cared about peoples opinion about number one they would have included extras in the album to boost sales. Did their live shows not sell out "at the drop of a hat" - Beastie Boys. and might I also ask. When did love of music turn into a sales scheme?

Commercially this record was never gonna do well, face the facts motherfuckers. But the shit can't be judged on that basis as musically it's fresher than the moist toillete, that's all that matters.

the real question is how many people bought it not knowing it was all instrumental?

it says pretty clearly on the case that its all-instrumental.

it says pretty clearly on the case that its all-instrumental.

even so, people are stupid.

and ten bucks says some people interpreted that as "they play instruments" not "the whole record is ONLY instruments"

The Beastie Boys score the highest selling hip-hop debut this week with their new instrumental LP, Mix-Up. The project moved just under 44,000 units and will land at No. 15 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart next week.
