You know the type of song U2 sets out to write every time they record. Sometimes these sort of songs fall flat as a pancake, other times they actually soar and inspire. I'm not talking about the most popular, but mainly the ones you enjoy.

Examples;

Us and Them/Pink Floyd
While My Guitar Gently Weeps/Beatles/Harrison/Clapton
Bittersweet Symphony/Verve
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For/U2
This is the Day/TheThe

What is your favorite "All Encompassing Grand Statement Song"? or worst "All Encompassing Grand Statement Song"?

I can't think of many that I've heard but either way I would give it to Imagine by John Lennon.

The only one that really moves me is Peter Gabriel's Biko. Oh, and Neil Young's Southern Man. And if we're going outside modern popular music, then Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit. And lots of opera.

Grand statement... I guess I think of stuff like "All You Need is Love" or "Love Stinks" or "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" or something.
