Here's my theory. G.W. is an addict. This is why he sticks to his principles. It's because he can't admit when he's wrong. Drug addicts and alcoholics do this all the time. Coincidence with his past? I think not.

It's all his personality. He goes too far with everything. Went too far with alcohol, cocaine, now it's his "love of God." Born-again Christians are truly something to fear.
But yeah, he's a stubborn asshole who won't admit when he's wrong. Didn't AA teach him to admit your faults? I thought that was one of the steps.

I hate to drop my fucked up past into a post, but I consider myself to be a recovering drunk (booze, pills and thrills) and an AA member. George is a "Born Again Christian" who found the Lord Jesus and became cured.
The difference between George and me is I'm not cured, I'm recovering. I believe in a power greater than myself but gaining humility and dropping denial is what I'm working on 24/7.
I don't think there is anyone right way to sober up, more power to those who can overcome the alcohol and drugs once you've become addicted.
He does display all the classic examples of a dry drunk (http://www.minnesotarecovery.info/literature/drydrunk.htm) though.

Wow, he really does sound like he's got dry drunk syndrome. Hmmm.

Congratulations. I really mean that, I know how hard that is to acknowledge and follow through on.

same congrats on your battle. It takes more courage to admit that your battling then it does to claim you've won - because honestly - the battle never ends - you never 'win'. best regards.

Something is most definitely awry in the W.H.
