as in the bus.

how safe is it relatively, for a woman?
I want to check out various towns, mainly because I'm itching to escape San Diego. I love the weather, and my friends, but I feel restless.

But before even deciding to move, or where to move to, I'd like to check out the towns I'm considering first. I am too broke for airfare to each place so I thought greyhound could work. But then I know I've heard about some shady characters on the greyhound and that taking it at night is iffy, sooo.

Anyone? Bueller? Brimley? (http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php/Diabeetus)

I've done cross country greyhound as well as plenty of East Coast travelling and I can say that although it doesnt attract the finest of society, it is a good way to get where you are going...

just check your luggage underneath the bus, so you dont have to worry about falling asleep and losing your gear at a local stop...

thats the other thing- making stops sucks...the bus stations in America are just plain crappy and you have to get out and wait for another bus, or sometimes you can sit and wait inside the bus while the drivers change shifts...

sometimes you get a funny driver and sometimes you get a bus with movies...

Last time I took the bus, I sat beside a guy who showed me his stab wounds and other various scars. He kept asking for the garbage bag so he could spit in it. He was nice though.

Well, good luck!

I have ridden on a bus like twice. That was enough. Of course I do not live in a larger city and If i want to go somewhere I drive. haha

Did... do you own a mirror? Tell me how big your bra size is and I'll tell you how safe you are. Just watch who you sit by. Try to find the old ladies. If you can, make sure you don't hit stops in the late hours. If you have street smarts you'll be taking full advantage.

There are lots of mexicans on the bus so you'll fit right in. Really.
